re-plating badges/scripts

Does anybody know what metal the badges on the front,side and rear of the speedsters made of, and can they be re-plated. e-bay seems to have DIY kits for 24ct gold electroplating but it seems that they cannot be used on aluminium. My badges have lost the gold in places and before I buy new ones I would like to know whether I can just re-plate the existing badges?

May be cheaper to buy new ones???

Advantage plating and power coats in Nashville Tenn. Can do it. They did all my Speedster D stuff. Mike is right ..

It do be pricey

Materials could be "pot metal"(cast zinc alloy), cast brass, cast magnesium, cast aluminum, and possibly others.....If there is any damage, (pitting, corrosion, scratches) it may well be cheaper to buy new ones, as the "finish" is only as good as the base surface....Platers expect you to furnish a product ready to plate, or you pay for the time they spend polishing up your parts...Not Cheap!!

Thanks for your help, looks like buying new ones may be the best option. It's just the badges on it seem to be better quality than the ones I've seen to buy, crisper etc.

Which ones are you looking for? I have speedster emblems with only two pins on them (I wanted to keep the holes to a min) and two smalled carrera emblems that have all pins. They are from Klasse 356 so they're quality. I think I may have pics if you're interested.
