Read Decklid and Pin System

Has anyone come up with a replacement for the read decklid pin? I saw some try the gas struts, but it doesn't sound like it worked too well on the rear lid.

An automatic catch that you had to manually release sounds like a nice system, has anyone tried it?

Interested too i what folks do for their rear deck lids. I finally broke down and had Henry supply me with a louvered deck to replace me old cobbled up louvered deck (anyone need a louvered rear deck that they will have to massage to get to fit?) and am thinking of options to the usual hinges and such.

WHEN U OPEN MY JPS COUPE THE LID AUTOMATICALLY STAYS UP. TO CLOSE IT U RAISE IT AND IT RELEASES THE HATCH AND ALLOWS U TO CLOSE IT. WORKS REALLY NICE

Wow, that's nice, to automatically stay open. I have a Vintage Speedster, but I wonder if that mechanism can be adapted?

I looked on the JPS parts page and they don't have this part listed.

Hey Gerd, if my memory is correct, a 1949/51 Ford rear trunk lid hinge worked just like that. Of course we know that Dr. Porsche did in fact visit Henry's River Rouge plant on several occassions. So you may be on to some actual history there . . . ?

50's Ford station wagons have the same set uo for the upper glass section of the tail gates..oh and the Bradley GT-1 had this for their plexi glass gull wing doors.

on pic 1622 and 1623 u see a thin metal flat rod that slides into a larger base at the top. im no mechanic but from what i can tell when i first open the hatch that small rod pulls out and must hit something that locks it firm. when i lift the lid a few inches it unlocks and allows me to close it. u have to hold the cover and lower it. it does not have a mechanism that slowly lowers it

The rear hood on my IM has a single gas shock that holds the hood up. Works perfectly.
