$115,500, my mistake.  Here is a link to the auction result.

Here is a link to the original posting ('07 I believe), where all these photos were stolen from.  I was told it sold for $100K then.

Guys, there is no such thing as a $40K original Speedster anymore.  A simple title and original VIN tag brings $50K alone...  absolute basketcases are fetching high 5 figures, if not low 6... and the appreciation has  been close to 40% per year over the last 3 years.  Original Speedsters (quality restored that is) are predicted to break 1/2M within 5 years and who knows after that...

Carey thanks for confirming in my mind that I made a good purchase buying replica.  I've got a friend who has a 56 or 57 Speedster and he never ever drives it.  I know some guys drive their's but not the norm and This is especially true for the ones that are in primo show condition.  As a matter of fact he drove my IM and he said "wow, Marty this is nothing like my car.  My car is like driving a truck compared to this.

I guess that's the difference between a guy who is collecting.  The price separation makes even more sense for high-end replicas.

Marty,

Nice, and I agree.  My best salesman ever was an older gentleman at the PVGP in his original 57 Carrera GS, parked next to our display.  He had similar comments when driving one of my Speedsters, and he spent the entire weekend telling people how they could "actually drive my car".  It was classic...

I certainly don't mean to sound like a "know it all".  It's just that I have been watching the original Speedster market very closely (more closely than I normally did) over the last several years.
