One of the better value buys I have seen in awhile. About 10 year old build, only 9500 miles on a new 2332 Bergmann engine with Porsche shroud. $33,500 is a great buy.

That's a helluva buy!
Nice AC for free with the hood open.

I caught it too. That has to be the worst fitting hood I've ever seen, or the pictures were taken with it popped.
I just sold a car on BaT. Taking pictures with the hood closed seems like a no-brainer.
What else was missed?
Seems high for a car with a Bergmann engine.
Most buyers saw that it was big for a Type 1 and that's it. I imagine few know who Bergmann is/was.
Ah Bernie...what a pleasure it was to deal with him:} My shroud got a 6" crack in it at 10 oclock..he wouldnt send me a new one so I slapped a Castrol racing oil sticker over it.

A lot of his engines weren't always "exactly" what you paid for- the displacement MAY have been what's discussed (or close- 90.5's are almost the same as 92's or 94's, aren't they?), and the camshaft was quite often milder than what you thought you were getting, but that was to make the not quite what you ordered heads work reasonably with the bigger displacement- he was really just working in your best interest...

Gee. Gotta love it… duh
I'm guessing it was originally sold as a kit, but no way to tell since someone deleted all the factory VIN numbers and added a VW VIN. Grrrrrrrrrr
A few days worth of clean up, proper ride height, and a featured photo with the hood shut may have made a sizable difference in hammer price... Although if you look closely it need a LOT of small detail/TLC stuff, cracked rubbers, faded hoses, wrong mirrors, funky exhaust, to name a few.

It looks nice until you start digging around for a second or two. The fraudulent VIN would be a bigger worry to me than the hood being popped in the pictures.
I find it extremely funny at times, sad sometimes , what people buy and then show up on the site and then realize that it’s going to take maybe tens of thousands for them to finish it to perfection of their particular dream or illusion…:
it’s especially so for non-gearheads, If you’re an oil head, it runs in your veins, since you’re a young child
I just finished watching Ayrton Senna Both the documentary and the Netflix special…. that guy was a bona fide gearhead and really had a need for speed
Anyone who hasn't seen the Senna documentary needs to watch it. It is compelling, informative, entertaining and of course very sad. Brain's Song and SENNA. I cried when I watched both of them.
I agree Phil, Senna was a really good documentary on Prime and the Netflix series was even more emotionally charged IMO. I agree, very sobering and touching for sure and it seems he really lived his life fully engaged.
