In broad generalities, and assuming the stock suspension has no problems, a sway bar will tend to loosen the end of the car it's inatalled on. I'd try dropping the front tire pressure to put a bit more push (understeer) in it. I think it's somewhere around 6 to 8lbs differential from the front to the back - front lower. May cure your problem and cheaper than a sway bar.

What do you mean by 'a bit loose'? Do you have a larger than stock front bar? Is your IM a swing axle or IRS? I put 3/4" bars front and back on my 84 IM and I love the results. Even with the stock front and no rear it never felt loose, so I agree with Bill....check for other problems first.
