Yup, I just finished solving that problem on my Argentinian CMC kit from the early 80’s. I used a Puma cooling shroud to keep the bottom of the tray (under the rear hatch) from hitting and I had to cut back my custom hinge brackets to clear as well. I can send pics if you would like to see how it turned out.
You have that one off custom chassis, right? is it too late to add a 1x2" steel tube perimeter frame to raise the body up a bit? (See photo of dune buggy frame). If you flip the stock hinges from the build manual - you can clear the corners of the shroud. I'm using a stock '71 shroud which ic slower in center than the aftermarket dog house ones. You can modify the rain shield in the stock engine lid too.
