James,

The TR is set up to use an interior door latch from a 68 and later Bug. I don't know if I can get a good pic since the engine is in the way.

A couple of pointers: I used a single VW bus heater cable instead of two seperate cables. It seemed easier to get both latches 'in time' with just one. I bought bike cable sheaths from a bike repair shop, they worked great. I also drilled two seperate holes on top of the housing for the latch, for the cable to run though. It's not too dificult to thread the cable through all those hole. I also used small washers between the cable sheaths and the fiberglass to keep wear through the fiberlass to a minimum.

Make sense?

Aaron
Thanks to all. I found a nice billet aluminum release set-up at Route 66 Hot Rod Parts here in St. Louis and installed one on each side of the rear firewall, just above the upper frame piece that runs through the firewall on the TR SPyder. I thought it might be better to run two separate, independent releases than a single mechanism that might cause some adjustment problems, a la E-type Jag bonnet locks.
Both are easily accessible from the driver's seat and required only about 14 inches of cable and sleeve respectively. The only "problem" is that I now have the recessed rectangular area in the rear bulkhead that has no function. Anybody got a cool idea about what to do with it? Maybe a small cubby locker??!!
