On door handles, definitely get OEM, you can find them through Tweeks or Klasse 356. I imagine OEM front hood seals fit as well as headlight seals, am I correct? For the door seals I guess it changes and OEM rubber won't fit. For that application I've seen different recommendations by folks here; some of them you can get at Home Depot; anyone care to jump in here?
I bought the headlight seals for my CMC and they won't fit --- mine came with upper clips installed. There isn't room for the rubber (guess I could move the clip out). I still have them if you are interested. The hood/door/trunk all call for hardware store one sided sticky foam tape. JC Whitney has a good assortment of different types of seals which are better than foam in my opinion. You could never weather proof even the original Speedster and the replica is true to that fault. Since the body is fiberglass not sure that it is even critical. Metal against metal removes paint and then comes rust - fiberglass is more forgiving (although every bolt I put thru it is backed by a big stainless steel washer to spread out stress pressures).
Joe;
Don't waste your money on hardware store seals. These are designed
for screen doors and are open-cell products.when wet the become a
mini-sponge,holding water instead of dispelling it. auto grade is
open or hollow for softness but has an outer closed skin to keep the
seal dry.
I'm in the business so I can't tell you who to call on this page,
but J.C W. and Soff-seal would both have what you need, and the
proper type for your needs.
