Michael,

That would be My little beast.
It was a great day at Thunderhill, Paul Hartford and I shot the bull for a couple of hours whilst vintage exhaust notes got me thinkin about more horsepower.

Since then additions:
16" (6" & 7")Porsche Fuchs
Correct turn signal beehives
Fluted Headlight lenses
Strong 1776
Driving/Fog lights

Lots of fun. Still Grinnin'

Brian,

Having just me you at the Bugorama 54, I didn't know what your car looked like. I was quite taken with it when I saw it at Thunderhill and wondered why you parked so far away - like you were shy or something.

I've hung around the CSRG group since the begining 1978 or something. It is always worth seeing one of their events. Thunderhill is better than Sears because there are open curves - no barriers to mess up the car if one slides off the track.

Brian and Michael,

I remember last year a group of you guys went to Thunderhill for the vintage races, believe late October. I had to cancel but wondering if there are vintage races there again this fall? Might make a good group outing for the NoCal, So. Oregon people. Any plans for the same thing this year? I think the Emory's bring some of the Parts Obsolete cars.

Nostalgia note about driving around race tracks. Open track days were pretty much unheard of back in the 50s and early 60s. But after a day of watching practice sessions for the SCCA races at Watkins Glen circa 1963, I was driving out of the infield. There were no bridges or tunnels to get out of the infield, you just drove across the race track surface. I noticed several of the cars in front of me turned right and drove down the race track. I decided what the hell and followed them. I got about three full laps in before the gendarmes showed up and effectively dragged a handy telephone poll across the track to stop us. The bad news was I was driving a three speed '62 swing axle Corvair. Embarrassing at the time, but the memory is good.
Since I can't make the SOT this year, I've been looking into events that might work for a bull session at Thunderhill.

CSRG - Classic Sports Racing Group (Vintage) has an Event Oct 30/31

HMSA - Historic Motor Sports Assoc. (Vintage) has an event Oct 16/17

The CSRG event is the one that Parts Obsolete attends (weather permitting).

Anyone else up for a casual meet at the races?

B.
Group,

The photo was taken at the Golden Gate Region High Speed Driving School & Time Trial #1, at Thunderhill Raceway Park, March 1, 2, & 3 of 2002.

I do not know the name, make, driver/owner.

I am hoping for this groups great knowledge base to come through.

"Silver Bullet" seems to be very a'propo though.

Brian.
