Definitely sounds like rust in the tank/lines. Get rid of it immediately before it wreaks havoc on your engine....

Did you put some of that fuel stabilizer in the tank last fall for storage? Might have colorerd the gas. Hope that is it. I use Stabil and think that is reddish colored.

mike, take a sample, pour into glass jar, let it sit. rusts settles, then you'll know.
if you do get sediment check it to see if its magnetic then you'll know for sure.

Better yet, rust is iron oxide and magnetic. When you get some gas in a clear jar, put a magnet against the outside of the jar and see if the red is attracted to the magnet. If not, either it's red gas (some of it is, in fact, red) or it was colored when you added a fuel stabilizer.

We've covered cleaning/coating gas tanks in earlier posts, but let's cross that bridge after you find out what's going on. It may be nothing.

If you are close to the border in cali and assuming Josee went to tijuana to party maybe that is mexican "Pemex Gasolina sin plomo" gas
they have the green stuff and the red stuff

Could be tax-exempted gas that does not have the dye in it. Farms have it. Also, some aircraft gas.
