For everyone who has said to themselves, "Gee, I love a pair of driving or fog lamps for my Speedster, but GOSH . . . they're just SO darned expensive!"

Well, things are looking up!

First grab up a pair of these-

And this set is WAY too pricey, you can usually find them for half this price or even less. I wouldn't pay more then ten bucks each.

Then, hit them with some stripper to get the paint off of the body and expose the brass trim ring around the lens. That's RIGHT! A sweet brass to pretty much match the "PORSCHE" script on the nose. Sand and fill and sand the body of each lamp and paint up nice and smooth. Polish up the trim ring and hit it with a clear coat for wheel rims. Shinny and strong.

Add some HELLA emblems for a little class and you end up with a pair of these.

SWEET, huh ? ! ? ! ?

AND if you have some gray paint hanging around, a dab of red, some clear coat AND you can drill a straight hole . . . pull your E-Brake handle and get to work, cause you'll end up with something neat like this for your trouble.

Lights have a 5.25 diameter. The E-Brake is Mickey's, he wanted a red release button. When it's coupled with a red battery shut-off switch and fuel pump on-off lever, it will tie things together well. I think that he's also planning on one of those red "remove before use" tags as well, so there will be a neat theme involved throughout his interior. Any time that red is used, it will signify "caution."

Especially when the little rat dog shows up with a hardon . . .

Yes, the lamps came with either amber fog lenses or clear driving lenses. It isn't too clear from the picture, but one is clear and one is amber. I'm running one of each as well. In Massachusetts anything up front is legal except for red or blue. I think that the amber and clear touch is kinda classy, really and makes for better lighting as well.
TC,
WHAT ARE YOU DOIN?!!! You can't be showing off all that stuff!! Now everyone is gonna want it and then their cars will look like mine and I can't have that!!!!

Those lights are the $hit!!!!!
I have always wanted drivng lights and I just couldn't bring myself to do the standard "Marchal on the bumper bracket" thing. I REALLY LOVE the lights that Gerd had put on his but I can't bring myself to shell out that kinda money to have them installed. Or $250+++ for replica Marchals, or worse, more money for originals!!!

Now if I could come up with some way to mount a pair of those (painted to match my car) in a sporty, weekend racer, ol skool lookin way, then I may be able to talk myself in to not cutting into my car some time in the future.
Oh, he's talented, all right.

Just dresses like a cross between Gerry Garcia and Johnny Cash....

Take away the granny glasses and go with a black Tee-shirt and you get the picture:

Gerry supposedly could play the guitar (you could-a fooled me!), while TC plays the......well, I'm not quite sure WHAT he plays.

BTW: Who's the little guy next to your monitor?? Looks like one of those folks from Alvin Allie....

I'm not quite sure Carlisle is ready for TC, anyway........

Oh....BTW: I had a pair of those "driving lights" on my lawn tractor. Got them from "Spag's" in Shrewsbury. They threw a "beam" of light that was a plane of about 180 degrees (in 3 dimensions) and were OK until the sun went down. Then they threw almost enough light to get back into the garage.......

My Lucas "Flame Throwers", on the other hand, lit the road from curb to curb at 3/4's of a mile...even on 6 volts in my '57 Oval.
The lights are genuine 914, throw a TON of light due to the flouts, reflector, and the size of the bulb inside. It's HUGE. They come with their own major sturdy mount that can be adjusted up, down, side to side. Just grab up a pair from any 914, off of TheSamba or through these guys.

The mount is cool enough that, when painted, you can let it show! Just bolt it right to the top of the bumper with a short piece of aluminum inside the bumber to act as a washer or backing plate. The lights are light enough in weight not to cause any damage, and the aluminum backing plate will strengthen the bumper enough to stop most of the movement. Since the mounting area is so close to the bumper bracket, the lights fit perfectly into the body indent between the lights and the nose, there is pretty much no movement at all.

VERY SOLID and easy system using all genuine Porsche parts. A nice lost cost way of getting "factory" auxiliary lights and mounting them as well.

On the OTHER hand, since it IS so easy and cheap to do, and Mickey is so protective of his shit, I wouldn't recommend this to ANYONE. You'll just waste you money and fail! Go buy something expensive and don't try this at home . . .
