Car is registered so it will be on the trailer to Carlisle. My experience at  North Carolina DMV went like this. I go to the local DMV with an Alabama registration from 1991 and a bill of sale which was the last time it was registered and he looked up in his big book..yup, Alabama is a title state so you will need a title."Yes I understand but in 1991 it was not a title state" He refers to the big book again, you need to contact Alabama. So I leave wondering how this will get done by Carlisle.

This morning  I travel to a small DMV office which was actually closer to home and met the nice lady, presented her with the same documentation and explanation, ten minutes later I leave the DMV with plate in hand. Comprehension is a wonderful thing.

Same old, same old in California.  The fairly new SB100 or specialty construction registration enacted for our replicas has been in force for a few years now, but some DMV offices aren't up to speed.  This causes the applicants grief as their application is denied initially.  Result is that some forums, like the Factory Five Cobra guys, recommend individual DMV offices, and even certain employees that know the process.  When I applied in California, I knew more about the process than the DMV employee who was supposed to implement it.  I was polite and patient and got through it.
