Todd, the gumballs I use are 3M decals...I put several coats of wax under them so they are easier to get off if I want them off...they are ruined once you pull them off, but it does not hurt the paint...my experience with static gumballs is that they are more likely to scratch the paint...don't want that...

Finish Line Products generally has a set of static gumballs for Cobra's...the size works fine with Speedsters...just make sure the back is super clean before you apply them...the more you take them on and off, the more likely you are to get something that sticks to the back surface and scratches the paint...

let me know if you need the numbers...

Hi Guys,

I use the static cling on my Cobra and have even had them on my Speedster for a laugh.

They are the Finishline product. I purchased the gum balls pre numbered and also purchased two set of the vintage decals. Think the gum balls are about $70 and the full set of vintage decals at $45 a set.

I wash my Cobra with them on and have found they do not hold dirt on the edges or lift.

I store them back on the sheet they arrived on to keep them flat.  Wiping them with Windex and spraying Windex onto the body allows them to slide around to the right location.

And no problems with them coming off even at 160mph on the track...

If you want some photos please email me on.

I can send some photos of the Cobra with the decals on and give you one or two tricks in detail - to ensure they stay on and are applied dead flat, without marking the paint.

 enjoy the ride stay safe.

Now, I'm replying to my own posts.

Got a text from Don, the transporter that is bringing the Speedster.  The truck was due to leave last night, but had a brake problem and landed itself in the shop.  Hoping for a simple repair.  He's really trying.  Finished texting with Don and my wife called.  Returning from a meeting in her AMG, she hit some kind of metal rod in the roadway, which punctured the tire, straight through the barrel of the rim and into the rear brakes.  I should've stayed in bed.

After reading these posts, we were a bit apprehensive about registering our new purchase ... turns out New Hampshire has to be about the easiest place to get this done. First, you don't have to go to a DMV office, your local town office can handle most, if not all your needs including personalized plates and while we were fortunate to have a clear title but if we didn't, a bill of sale and previous registration would suffice ... no bill of sale and no reg? No problem, a relatively quick and easy VIN check and as long as it doesn't come back stolen or used in a crime, you're good to go. And with the personalized plate and 'Antique' designation on the title / reg it was $45 for the year and took all of 15 minutes .... felt a little guilty after what so many have dealt with!

Sounds like you got it all covered.  Take Donuts too...they love that stuff

Jeff: Where in Illinois are you and how is your car currently titled?

Jeff:

I found registering my Vintage that I acquired second hand from a California owner was quite easy. They accepted the title and previous registration paperwork listing the car as a 1970 VW without any problem. It carries a VW VIN and that was all they cared about.

I actually live between Brimfield and Kickapoo off of the 74, in the country. Kickapoo is even smaller than Brimfield.

Consider coming to CORN DAZE whether you have your Beck by then or not. Plenty of right seats and a good chance to see a few cars plus the Great Race stopover if you can layover to Monday.

It is nice down there.

I know I'm going to have a few headaches registering my other cars as two of them don't have titles. One is being constructed from scratch so it doesn't even have a VIN. I may slap a VW tunnel section under it since it is mostly VW. I'm not sure how I'm going to register the Beck though. Carey probably knows all the flaming hoops to jump through.
