is the adhesive some sort of silicone? if so you could put the window in boiling hot water and keep it there for a few minutes and the silicone or terason will loose.

I'm thinking of a friend in college who used to clean car and bike parts in the bath tub... Ole ladies have changed... I would be talking octaves higher if I tried to do so. This stuff was applied by Henry's crew in 1982 and looks like double sided carpet tape, but tougher.
I tried DW-40 (coon-ass version of WD-40, 90% methanol, any ideas?
George, I would suggest Goof-Off and a heat gun, alternating with a green scrubber pad. As long as the Goof-Off has time to soak in, it'll clean up nicely.
