Well cleaned up the inside and decided I need to pull the VS type Banjo wheel, but I'll be damned if I can figure out how it comes off. On most aftermarket wheels, you pop the horn button and voila, a nut to turn after you unhook the horn contacts. This won does not seem to want to give straight off or turn at the horn button. Anybody got one and figured out how to get it off so you can repaint it?

Fred,

Allan head, or just 8mm? small bolts. Here is a horn swap instruction page from JPS that shows the innards http://www.jps-motorsports.com/install.html

As you are collecting parts both JPS and Vintage Speedster are great sourses for parts, along with Stoddards, Klasse, NLA, VW paradise in SD, Vee Parts in National City among many good suppliers.

Cheers

drclock,

I have the same year Vintage as you. I will try a little more pressure. The wheel really needs painting. There is also a new center Porsche badge that came with the car but it looks like another drill the old and fit in place. I just did that with the "Porsche" dash emblem.
Fred,
I have the same wheel and it is really a lot easier than it looks. The horn button is pressed into place. I use a long nail (file the point off) and push it into the three holes in the back. The button just comes out easily this way. Then use a deep socket to remove the nut. A deep socket lets you coil up the wire inside in order to not do it any harm.

I hope this helps you.

Happy Trails,
Dusty
