1.) Are the deco trim pieces (rocker panel area and mid-body chrome pieces) attached to the body/fiberglass using just glue, or do they have a combination of pins & clips with glue also?

2.) If the deco are attached just using glue is there a technique for removing it? I want to strip my car ala Carrera GT style. I reckon if the replica cars have clips you start on one end and carefully pry the piece away from the body. I am not going to reuse them but someone else may want them.

I think Barry mentioned a Napa Auto Parts trim glue remover product.

3.) Next question, does anyone have any suggestions how to remove the black rubber bumper trim piece? Is it also glue on or a pin & clip attachment? Carrera GT's didn't use that piece.

4.) Wheels -- I have the Brazilian chrome VW rims, am thinking about having them stripped and powder coated silver. Anyone know how the chrome is removed?

5.) Vw wheel studs vs studs & nuts -- I am a little vague about what is involved in going from the Vw studs to converting to threaded studs, which I assume a machine shop needs to press into the rotors? Would like to make the switch. George, any suggestions?

Eric,(#4)Don't know if you've consulted a powder coating place or a bumper chroming shop?
3 possibilities; bumper shop who chromes could de-chrome them. If you want old pieces rechromed I believe they have to remove the original chrome first. Another, could the rims be sand blasted roughing them sufficiently to have the powder coating bond?....or sell your chromies and buy the original steel road wheels 4.5 or 5.5 through motorworks.com @ $60 per wheel.
