Hey Del--maybe this info will help you---it sure helped me!

On the main page of this site on the left side click on "Building a Speedster kit" Then scroll down to the section named "Frame Shortening" and halfway down in that section click on "CMC build manuals"

I downloaged and printed all of the 85 or so pages last night. It is virtually identical to the Vintage Speedster---mayby a lot of others too. There is every phase showing how it goes together. In the absence of a decent Vintage Owner's Manual this is the next best thing---and really the absolutely best thing.

I still want a Vintage Speedster build manual--anyone got one to sell??

Anyway this will be a help to you.

ps after getting so much wonderful from so many others on this great site it really pleases me to me able to share something myself!
I wouldn't count on the CMC build manual helping much with a VS (for the trim). The trim on the CMC was inexpensive universal "chrome" plastic sticky sided rub/nick railing (JC Whitney sourced most likely). The VS uses adapted VW beetle trim (believe using the original VW type plastic clips) or perhaps on later versions extruded aluminium with near original screw on clips. If the VW trim then it pops off with a putty knife - if the screw on clips then need to remove the nuts from inside fender well.
