Since I couldn't drive the tub-it was between 4-18 degrees F today and the roads were covered with salt, ice and snow-I decided to replace the accelerator pedal, hardware, cable, and add a roller to the cable outlet on the dog house.
The metal on the replacement pedal (Empi) was so thin it wouldn't hold its shape so I repaired the original. The cable went right thru the center tube with no hangups. The hardest part was getting the tube that holds the roller thru the doghouse and the firewall-it took several attempts with very small bends. The roller mechanism is a quality part-it is made by Joe Bence Enterprises (on the internet) -he even includes a teflon bushing that fits into the front end of the tube on the front side of the firewall. I believe that Carl Berry turned me on to this part in a post he made quite a while ago.
Anyhow after some adjustments, the hex bar that operates the dual Webers works much better and when I step on the go pedal it is much smoother.
I am glad that I installed heat in the garage.
