I'm curious if anyone has ever purposed an online registry system for our replica cars. Does something like this exist? Maybe similar, but different than https://porsche356registry.org (with no forums or classifieds or mag)

I've noticed (over the limited time I've been here), a lot of folks here have a ton of knowledge about the different coachbuilders, owners, modifications, etc.

Maybe a VIN lookup that provides details about the donation pan/frame, coachbuilder, year built, the owner(s) history, title history in different states, engine rebuilds, etc.

Would something like this be of interests?

The prior version of this site tracked make of replica and had a satisfaction questionare.  The questionare was a bit bogus since FF/CMC had been out of business for like 20 years at that time.  It was nice to see a total count of CMC/IM/VS etc on the site though.  Old site also had space for each member to post photos of their car. (Have never found a total count for CMS produced).

You can create a signature that can be used to show your location and make of replica. You can also put photos of your car in your profile.  That woud be a big step forward.  I wouldn't mind listing year of my CMC and its "serial" (actually invoice) number --- ha, even $$$ invested. I see all above posters have done this already - but suspect 75 of others are aware it can be doen.

I do like PRR.

I certainly would not have "Porsche" in the web domain name, that's just asking for Porsche to send a cease and desist letter.

@WOLFGANG you got me thinking about my VMC Speedster being built now. I just looked at my invoice and there is a number. I'll ask Greg if that corresponds to the number of cars he has built. That's interesting.

Maybe not have the state titled/registered then. Just the basics, manufacturer, year, photos, dealer history, owner history. Not sure if anything like this would be useful.

Invoice/Serial # = number cars built?  For CMC/FF i don't think the invoice would help for total # cars built. My CMC is S2244 and was built in Nov 88.  I think the S was Standard "Classic" body vs the California Flared body.

Can some one with a CMC flared body confirm their serial#?  If the first digit is different - we might be able to tell how many Classics and how many Flared cars were built.  They also made Porsche 359, MGTD, Gazelles, Cobra, '34 Fords and the Tiffany.

It appears the prefix digit was different by model -

Classic Speedster with ID No CMC speedster ID No. S2162

“Classic Gazelle” with the ID No. B11392

Gazelle with 6 cyl Ford with ID No.  B7969

Cobra with ID # D0368 built around 1993

They did $20M in sales their top year so suspect total build # was over 10k.

Here's one from a FF TD -
