Replica knock off rudge wheels

As in VERY expensive.  However, one of our members (Pieter van Rossum) made a surprisingly convincing set using, among other things, some sort of kitchen pans.  Pete, you out there?

The easiest way, providing you have 4 bolt wheels, is to install chrome lug nuts and purchase and install spinners which are available from CB or Cip1. Look in my file for pics. I ran them on Penny several wheels ago...

The pan--or an 8-inch round bit of aluminum plate--goes under the spinner, covering the lug bolts. You put eight small acorn nuts around it in a circle. Use a chrome 8-slot mangle or--better, imho, powdered aluminum/silver. You can build the whole set of wheels this way for like $400. That's for all of 'em, not each wheel. 

Real Rudge's are unobtainium and the high-end replicas are almost certainly better than the real ones and less than half the price, which will be (my guesstimate) in the $1500-$2000 range. That's per wheel, not for all four.

You rarely see BRM wheels on a Speedster.  They come in multiple bolt patterns - wide 5, 4 bolt, etc.  The 4 bolt are 5" wide so might eliminate clearance problems.  No mention at CIP1 of offset though. A cross between Fuchs and ATS wheels.

I've always liked the look of BRMs.

I've got a set on the bus. They wouldn't have been my pick, but they are "just right" for what I've got going on.

The alloy replica Rudge wheels are about $14k for a set of 5, IIRC. It's been a while, so I can't remember exactly. 

Still a bargain compared to an original set I saw for $40k not too long ago!
