I've searched this site and the net extensively...

but i cannot find a parts distributor for all these replicas.

Everyone seems to be using the same parts (taillights, door handles, gauges, headlights, seats, tops , etc) but i can't find where they are all buying them from.

Can (or would) someone share this information?

Thank you. :)

Well there isn't a single supplier. Some real OEM Porsche parts work fine (scripts, lights); some VW parts fit (door latches, headlights pre-66, suspension/engine parts, and many performance parts. Gauges - pick your style: VDO Vision/Heritage/Cockpit? Porsche 914? Porsche 912/911? or repro 356? Seat and carpets are YMMV and may require customization; i.e. tops don't fit say from a VS to a CMC directly. Original stuff is better quality but more $ (take chrome pieces) than Brazilian/China reproductions. Different builders use different side trim - from CMC plastic "chrome" stick on to IM extruded aluminum to VS VW modified side trim.
thanks guys.

I have an opportunity to build / make my own body from a mold. The mechanicals /building does not scare me, it's just the sourcing some of the hard to find (or very specific) parts.

I am thinking of:
~ the windshield & frame
~ top frame / cover
~ side windows (either plastic ones or glass/plexi roll up w/rubber moldings)
~ hinges (doors, hood, truck)
~ all latches (doors, hood, truck)
~ repo 356 gauges

Would it be best for me to contact a replica builder to source these from them? Or is there a place i can get them online?

I'm thinking specifically about Rusty tubs comments:

"We will disclose to the buyer only, where to source the hardware and speedster replica parts needed to build actual cars."
Places like Klasse 356 http://www.klasse356.com/ are great; the service, quality and prices are very good as well as Mid America Motorworks http://www.tweeks.com/. You can also contact builders such as JPS, Intermeccanica, Special Edition (Beck) or Vintage Speedsters; they also sell the parts.
