Hey gang,

I have been chatting with the owner of this car. Adrian is very easy to work with. He has provided me with many other photos. He has been incredibly eager to provide any information I've asked for.

This car is currently titled in Texas as a 1985. Texas assigned a vehicle ID to the title. There is a special call out on the title which states "VIN Verification has been waived." The owner has verified that title is otherwise clear. There is no listing or mention of vehicle make (e.g. Volkswagen or Porsche or Whatever.) Not sure what this means with respect to Texas cars, but with the year listed as a 1985 this seems like California DMV would force a visit to the smog doctor every two years. As such, I'm no longer pursuing this car. If anyone else is interested, I offer up any information I've gathered along the way.

The car is a CMC with Vintage Speedster interior accessories. It does have a vinyl tonneau. No mention or sign of side windows. That is not to say they aren't present, I just haven't seen them or asked about them. I didn't ask about the top, but in the images, it does look like it's vinyl.

The motor is a very generic 1600 DP with a single Solex carb. Standard gold coil. Standard voltage regulator. Standard generator. 12V. No heater boxes. Partially sealed engine compartment. The driver side of the motor is not sealed properly from the exhaust 'j tube' heat. Passenger side looks like it's sealed properly. Heater ports on the fan shroud appear to be 'blocked' with some sort of 'freeze plug' looking things.

Monza exhaust.

IRS trans.

4 wheel disk brakes.

4 lug chromies.

Newer tires. No visible spare.

All molding and badges are from Sierra Madre.

The dash has three gauges in the cluster area and what appears to be the clock in the center of the dash. All have black faces. The center mounted speedo appears to be a 4" unit. All others are 2" or 2.5" units. SunPro was mentioned specifically for the tach, nothing specifically mentioned for the others.

Windshield is good.

Windshield frame has some 'screw holes' in it, from what appear to have been from 'snaps' which have since been removed.

The price has also been lowered to 14,500.00.

I provide the above info for use of reference. I suggest if you're serious you should reach out to Adrian and confirm for yourself.

If the title were more conducive to California registration, I would be lining up a PPI.

Best of luck,
Ted

Yeah. It would need an in person inspection, for sure. But from the photos he sent me, it could be a great entry point for someone. The Texas, 1985 title is a curve ball, slider, sinker, change up for us California guys. My suspicion is that the fender darts are keeping buyers at bay. Other than those, this one this one should appeal to many.

Best of luck to the seller,
Ted.
