Addendum: This guy showed up in the Carlisle pits to make a point which was not necessarily related to the gathering but the gearheads were busy sorting out a carburetor problem and tried to ignore him...He mentioned he thought he had a relative on the continent so they told him to contact someone named GERD (on the West Coast) for his likely long overdue unpaid tax problems and perhaps find a relative who wears horns also....
What a blast Carlisle was...Egg sammiches were huuuuge. Chuck and Maggie Martin bought a beautiful blue coupe from the JPS display and now have his and her speedsters......Talk about really nice detail work! I'm sure Chuck will have more later on that purchase.
I won a luggage rack at the raffle that was donated by John Steele - JPS.
Just unloaded speedy project #23 from the trailer, it now has about 20 test miles on it, mowed the lawn and it's nap tyme. zzzzz
Man what a trip dodging semi's, crazy women driving SUVs and turning into the hotel parking lot doing 60mph. Disregard any comments about my driving from Hoss, Aaron or Lane, me and the Silver Spirit are still in one piece except for a windshield wiper arm that decided to exit stage right. Looking for a replacement, still have the main arm that attaches to the wiper motor (furled knob) which I removed so it would scratch the windshield.

We just got home. TIRED. I will write more later after some rest. I just wanted to say this was the best trip EVER and all you Speedy owners are fantastic!! THANK YOU NOLAN for letting us drive your beautiful car when it was raining!!! Thank you for letting us join your fun weekend!!

This was a truly life-changing experience. I saw two people (who's names WILL NOT be mentioned without bribe) channel spirits from some other realm in the hospitality suite. Many many more cars than ever before and lots of newbies. My car ran like a champ even though (as Gerd says) it's still being built - but then aren't they all?

We have a new catchprase: "What happens in the hospitality suite, stays in the hospitality suite."

Just seven hours on the interstate tomorrow and I'll be home. Whew!
No longer a Carlisle virgin!

- Thanks to all for welcoming my son and me
- Thanks to Lane for the show field brake repair & Weber tutorial
- Thanks to ECB, Norma, Dr. Clock, & Cory for all of the coordination
- Thanks to Carey for building me a car that I was proud to show
- Thanks to my son for being a good sport & riding along
- Thanks to my wife for being supportive
- Thanks to the crazy MG guy Rick? for taking us on some wild cruises
- Thanks to Natalie for getting us there and back again without breaking down
- Thanks to the PA, OH, & MI State Police for not pulling me over today after my speedo failed somewhere in PA

I could go on and on. Thanks!
Had to leave early, but I want to shout out to all of you. What a great group of people! Hard core drivers, new people all made for a great Car Gumbo! Beautiful day to drive back, played tag with a GT3. I think he was quite surprised when La Bomba ran with him. Of course when he got serious.....but I was PROUD! Had fun, met new people, great to see all of the "regulars". AL and Bobbi, my bad, I wanted to give you both a big wet one. I know AL would have enjoyed it. I keep dreaming of Norton's for some reason. Can't wait till next year. Hopefully some of the Northeast people can pull together for a romp.
Made it back to Indy in 9 hours dodging rain and exhausted.
Mega thanx to EC Bruce and Mrs ECB for putting on such a great event.
Great to be amongst fellow "madness" victims-everyone so friendly.
The crowd was overwhelmed by all the Speedster and Spyders amassed together.
Fascinating to see all the ancien automobiles francais with which I am oddly familiar.
The Volvo/Saab folks were awesome.
Egg McMuffins will never bee the same after yummy Carlisle HS Band egg sammiches.
NB: Hotel Carlisle's gotta go in 2012!
1 or 2 Motrin and I'm ready to go again.
Dave Bash in Indy---newby no more
uneventful ride home (460 miles), except............

ticketed by VA state trooper for having my radar detector visible in the f...ing window. It was not on mind you, and I was not speeding. He said the fact that he saw it was illegal. Go figure. A non points, no report, no points $40 contribution to the state's budget.

Just made it back to Wisconsin at 2:00pm with a stop for a full set of tires for the 911 at Tire Rack in South Bend. Should have stopped on the way out because the car is riding excellent now. So long Toyos, hello Firestone. More exclamations of the fun Willy and I had after I get caught up here. Thanks everyone for making us feel at home!!!!!!!! Pix and videos to follow soon. We'll be back.
Tom: that's a bummer. Enough to ruin your day, but not the week end, I hope. I enjoyed running w/ you up to Carlisle from Haggerstown, and look fwd to more of same in the future. Very glad you could come along. And yes, you do have a very fine little buggy there. It aint' no Speedster, tho': it has comfy seats, heat, air condtioning, is quiet (except when you don't want it to be), safe, and I'm betting, water proof. And it does have high visibility, as you have now demonstrated. And I could have three Speedsters for what it costs -- but who's counting . . .
