Repro Chinese 356 Gauges Sender Compatibility

They work with the standard VW VDO sending units.

To clarify, my fuel tank sending unit is the stock 67 VW bug unit from the donor car. The oil temp and pressure dual sending unit.

Have you checked out VDO gauges in the USA... they have a whole lot of these gauges and make a better quality gauge... with better lighting.  Ils ont aussi des modeles en kph... Raymond

Manny isn't in the good old USA, so it will be much easier for him to source them locally.

We are spoiled in USA with all the Speedster and VW parts sources.  Manny has serious case of the MADNESS to hang in there building one in Africa!  Suspect his will be only one with Giraffe seat covering.

A bit of advice here Re: Chinese built instruments:  In my experience the tachs are CRAP, to put it bluntly.  They look good, and the other read-outs work well enough, I guess.  Who looks at the speedometer anyway??  I'd send the tach off to North Hollywood Speedometer, in CA -- look them up on the internet --  and have them rebuild your tach w/ gen-u-ine VDO innards.  Pricey, but worth it.  Shipping to/from should not be too bad.  $0.02 worth.

Special Edition & IM worked with VDO to produce new replica gauges in original diameter using GPS for speed instead of a cable.  Much better quality.  If you have existing larger replica holes there's a rubber bushing that looks pretty good.

Those are the ones I previously mentioned from VDO. They are in Miles and not KPH if you need KPH you can request some accommodations from NHollywood, speak to Hartmut.

One of these day I'm sending a 914 tach out there for a chrome trim ring and new screened face and needle. It is the correct diameter for a Spyder. Or if I find an early 912 tach, I can slap it right in.
