Wow! Very nice interior @sethsaccocio.
Hey looks good! Diamond patterns for the win!
Just a quick update on the progress. Since my last post the car has gained some carpets, a functional steering column, mirrors, a hard tonneau cover, a windscreen, a wiper, lap belts, a gearbox, a speedometer cable, shortened clutch/park brake cables and presently busy with a connection box (although I prefer the term avionics tray!) that hides below the dash and flips down when required.

Amazing work @Bear911!!
That does look great.
Where did you get the "halo's" for your headlights ? Are they 7 inch ? (18 cm?)
Looking great !
Is the accelerator pedal operated by your right or left foot ?.......Bruce
Hehe, right foot as per normal. Haven't fitted the assembly yet. My master cylinder needs replacing and clutch cable needs some shortening before it all goed back in.
7 inch headlights as available on fleabay, popular amongst Jeep owners, restomodders and the occasional beetle owner.

I assume you did the carpeting yourself? What did you use for making the templates, if you made them? Did you do the binding yourself?
It's something I have been considering doing, but have not as yet attempted it.
Thanks - looks great! The entire car, that is.
Traced it out with some brown paper and some trial and error.
Yes, did the binding. Actually super easy once you know how. Cut vinyl into 1 1/2 inch strips. Lay it face down along the edge of the carpet and stitch along the edge. The flip it over onto the back and stitch again.
Looking hawt as always Bjorn...........keep at it, we'll be cruising sooner enough.
Hi all
First drive happened today. Some more shaking down and odds and ends to do, but I feel this is a good point to say that it is 'done.' Obviously, there can be endless tinkering with a homemade car, so I suppose they are never completely done.
That said, I super happy with the result. I feel the car captures the mid century experience pretty well. Here is a blog entry with more of my ramblings on the first drive. Cheers!

Congrats on finishing the Speedster (kind of finished). Lol
Enjoyed the blog albeit was short. But it's on the road and it is now time to enjoy it to the fullest. Motor on.
Thanks for the feedback Robert! Yeah, suppose I could have added a lot more. Will continue adding my experiences on ownership to the blog as the miles tick along.
Excellent result with your build and blog. Looking forward to continue following your progress!
Really, really cool, Bjorn!
It is 2021. Congrats!
I started building my car, in earnest, in 1994 and “finished” it in 2001.
Then, after a year or so I added the convertible top and side windows, a year later I added the driving lights, then a front sway bar, later on a gifted rear sway bar, a gifted radio, polished the spokes on my wheels from ugly black to sparkling metal, then got a clear bra installed, soundproofed everything I could, finally installed the dash cover in matching vinyl, swapped the seats for more comfortable ones and along the way, when nobody was looking, a whole lot more stuff got added over the past 20 years.
It’s a never ending process and why we all call it “The Madness”.

Nice job on the car !!
Love the looks of you car, Bjorn. Great work!
Thanks everyone for the kind words!
@Gordon Nichols haha point taken! Tonneau cover, roll hoop and thicker anti-roll bar on the future options list so far...
Looks good Bjorn. Congratulations!
Looks great. Saw the drive on instagram. nice job.
Here is my approach to adding a hoop and harness bar to what is obviously an inherently fragile car. It is attached to the pan as well as the integral steel mounts intended for the shoulder straps. Ultimately it is just a 'show bar' I suppose and not intended for passing scrutineering, but I think it adds at least some utility.

Wow, I just discovered your thread! Seems like we share a lot of initial requirements to our builds. Very well done!
Nice work, Bjorn!
I agree nicely done, and nice touches in the frunk area.
Wow is all I can say. Beautiful Outlaw racer.
Ah, so that's what they mean with “great minds think alike”.
