On the original cars there were aluminum plates mounted to the inner bulkheads/door jams called hinge cover plates, I believe. These had the Reutter Karosserie/vin on them and were attached (with TINY flat top rivets) to the plate just ABOVE the top screw hole. There was also a smaller Nitrolack plate attached just BELOW the top screw hole.

As I mentioned one before, the VIN on this Reutter's plate was also stamped and actually hand written all over the cars. Behind panels, scribed into aluminum trim, in crayon on the dash board. . . just everywhere.

Kinda cool, VERY hand made, sorta neat . . .
