Hi Gang,

My Florida sourced CMC Speedster has been on the road now for around 4 years over here in sunny Scotland. It came as an unstarted kit and I added in a hefty diagonal brace from the B pillar to engine cradle when I was building because of the butt sag issue.

Noticed that the door was not closing as sweetly as normal over the past few months and, on  closer inspection, the door gap has closed up a little at the top on one side......I've not done a detailed inspection as yet so hoping is just a minor realignment needed on the door .

Anything else I need to be checking? (I did not get the front body support with the kit but got the details from the build manual and made one up during the build.)

Thanks !

Gerry

SO, had a chance tonight to have a look........A tweak of the door hinges was all that was needed

Heritage 2008, I'll get a shot of the bracing at the weekend !

While I was at it, I adjusted the clutch and the hood latch. Have an appointment in the morning, 140 miles each way....if the sun keeps shining I'm taking the Speedster ! I have a few tools and my AA card  (like US AAA) !

I'll grab some pics

Thanks-smooth cruising to ya!
David

Well sun was shining this morning, so off I went on my 300 mile drive Glasgow/Newcastle/Glasgow. Truth be told it was a little cold @06:00, but fun none the less. I Remember I tweaked the clutch last night??? Well, just as well I left the appropriate tools in the car cause the cable broke 3 miles from my destination !!!  I say "broke" but actually it came apart. I cut my cable and shortened using 3 cable clamps. They had obviously come a little loose and had been sliding apart, hence my clutch going out of adjustment.

Took me 30 mins to pull some seat trim, undo the fasteners on my behind seat access panel and reconnect the cable, thankfully the cable clamps were still on the cable !

The run home was uneventful...till about 40 miles to go. Very light rain prompted me to stop and raise the hood. A mile later and the heavens opened !

All in all a fun work day
