Anyone know a quick fix to making my back up lights (reverse lights) work?  Is there a wire that needs plugged in, etc?  My brake lights did not work, found the two wires up front dangling there so I plugged them in and they worked.  Hoping reverse light is just as easy.

Also - My fan is ground to the gearbox.  I unbolted it, stuck it to the frame and nothing happened.  Does anyone WITH A VS INSTALLED fan which is hidden behind the fire wall and damn near impossible to get to know how to get this thing to turn on?

reverse light switch is on the front, lower, passenger side of the trans.  power in, switch, power out to light.

Yes - Oil cooler fan.  It is temp activated, but i want to just see if the thing works...period.  There is just no room to get to the wires.  I took the wire off the gearbox which is what VS told me was the ground for it...and touched it to the fram and it did not come on.  I just want to hear it so I know it works.  I am taking the car to a shop in two weeks so i can wait, but if I can check it now I will...

You're are going to need a Volt/Ohm meter to easilyn trouble shoot your electrical problems.  They are inexpensive - $2.99 at HF (or free with coupon).  I like the ones with a needle meter vs digital. Trans should have a good ground strap somewhere to the chassis frame.  I could be hot only when engine is running or even when in accessory mode.  Probably no reason for it to turn on when engine is off.  You could hook Voltage leads (set to 12 or 24 or 10V DC mode) --- and look for needle to deflect when hooked to hot line and a ground.  While you're in there apply some di-electric grease to connections to keep them from corroding and turning green.

Might add a manual over-ride toggle switch too.

No need to worry about turn signals --- Floridians don't seem to use them.

Is the circuit like this: Battery+ > temp switch > fan > ground.

Or like this: Battery+ > fan > temp switch > ground.

Battery+ could be a switched +12v from the fuse panel.

In either case, if you just want to verify the fan works, you need to temporarily wire it so you bypass the temp switch like so: battery+ > fan > ground.

Changing the point the ground wire attaches to the frame won't make any difference (if the trans is properly grounded). You really need to get to the fan's electrical terminals. If you can't guarantee the temp switch is activated, no amount of fiddling with the power and grounds will help.

huh?

what kind of temp switch is it?   i have this kind:

this switch just completes the circuit. you don't point a + to one side nad a - to the other - you'll blow a fuse doing that.

also - it entirely depends on how the fan is wired.  is the negative switched or the positive switched, or it it relay triggered?

i wired mine, positive switch to trigger the relayed.

your best bet is to physically jack the car up and look to see how the fan is wired.  i mean physically pull back the loom and use a test light to see where it is hot (+).

it's impossible for me/us to troubleshoot this without any pictures or more details.
