I am out there trying to find a used speedster to buy. The two cars listed below are both made in New Zealand by Platinum speedsters, which makes them pan-based. The are obviously quite different in mileage and specs and I will of course need to look at them both closely, but is there anything in the specs listed that gives rise to any concern from anyone? Or anything you would advise when comparing the two?

(Oh, and don't be (too) alarmed, the prices are NZ dollars... roughly speaking one NZ dollar = 62 cents US.)

Any guidance appreciated.

Thanks
John

I wonder why the registration and WOF has expired on the black one. Plus look at the carbruator manifolds closely, 914 and Type IV engine blocks are identical, however, the heads and manifolds are quite different. I got fooled when I bought a Type IV after being told it was a 914 engine. Not too much difference in performance but it does indicate the integrity of the seller.

That silver one looks like a pretty good deal for 24K NZ. The black one is nice too! The way to decide would be to see them in person and give them a test drive. I've realized after looking at countless photo's online and later seeing them in person that you just can't really know what you are getting for your money. Some have had great luck buying from EBay and others sight unseen.

Best of luck with your choices!
