I got an e-mail from a guy I sometimes get parts from. He says he bought a right-hand drive flared Speedster, red over black, and doesn't want to hang on to it for long. It's got speedo and fuel indication problems, which I'll probably help him fix, and then it's going on the block.
Before he goes the ebay route, I told him I'd see if there's any general RHD interest here first. I'll be taking photos and getting details (mileage/engine/transmission/brakes etc.) this afternoon.

A guy named Miles. Lives about four miles from me and has a VW dragster. He's always buying and selling, and usually just wants to see the engineering in things he doesn't hang on to.
He incorporates some of the most wickedly cool techno-gadgets into his baby.
Neat guy; 40-something, maybe 50. Laid back like a Parrothead.
It is the same one that was on ebay last week. Sold for 6600. It is is in pretty good condition. When I went and looked at it from the original owner a couple weeks ago, the brakes were very soft. Definately need a full brake rebuild. Also some minor front damage to the fiberglass from hitting a curb. Engine had an oil leak, probably ust the pan though. Other than that it was a pretty solid car. Not much rust other than surface from what I could tell. Looked like a fun little car. I lost the auction inthe last 5 minutes. Would hav been a fun little project.
This is Miles' ad on the Samba:

... and some interesting others, including a body and hardtop for a couple/few grand and a Glaspar hardtop for less than $900:
