Vintage Speedster show they have a right hand drive.

Isn't there some English company building right hand drive Speedsters?

Yes just had a look ALB it looks like chesils do, thanks for the heads up. I just drove a 911 and as cool as it is, it is just not as good looking as a 356, after driving my mates original 356 I am all for a speedster now.

Couldn't be too hard to smooth out bump on dash and cut slot for steering column.  Lots of FF/CMC bodies out there still available unbuilt.

Aussie- I seem to remember another English company making bodies (and building complete cars) as well; if the name pops in my head I'll let you know. Al

Cheers ALB appreciate it mate. Wolfgang by all means I know with vw's it's not to hard, I suspect it might be similar with a speedster, however I just haven't found any. Keen to look at any you can recommend.

There's Chesil, Pilgrim and Speedster Clinic in the UK that make speedsters. There may be more but I don't know them.

Thanks SR I will check them out, the guys from chesil got back to me with some details and it looks great, if anyone has had any experience let me know. Also I am going to go for a kit I can make, so if there is anyone else that would like to do the same it may be more cost effective for shipping. Anyone tempted to build ???

Speedster Clinic was the other one on the tip of my tongue. Keep in mind I'm Canadian so I know nothing about them (other than what I've read on this great big interweb thingie) and these are by no means recommendations. G'day, there's one from Chesil for sale in Oz right now. I personally don't like them as they just look all wrong especially the height of the headlights, the bumpers etc..etc..also in RHD.

Thank god somebody else sees this as well. It's od, some look like right and some don't. For the money it costs it's better to just buy one from the states and convert over. Not sure how the speedster clinic rates though. The US models seem more reflective of the original shape. eBay here is come, haha.

Here I come ( damn auto correct ) are there any classifieds site I should be looking at online, even if it was a something that needed a lot of work, I'm open.

I've just brought a chesil speedster £35,500 worth, should have taken three months to build but took over twelve. I've have problems since day one and major ones at that. My advice to you is STAY WELL AWAY FROM CHESIL!!!

Ooooo ! What's the problem(s) I had some sorting out but I am the happiest man on earth with my car. The current owner has been more than helpful to me (he wasn't the guy in charge when I bought it) but he has always and I mean always been there to help me with mine. I've even made mods which make it better, fuel cut off switch, rear view camera. Oh, and do I have regular maintenance with the carbs....always the idle jets, but that's not a Chesil caused problem. Let us know what's up ?

Peter would not answer my calls which Steve the car builder confirmed suggesting I call from a number he didn't know. He hadn't tried to call at all but knows there is problems

Trying to help him mate ! (TRP)   Loubelou, this site can help you sort your problems. You had a problem getting in touch with Peter, I gave you all the contact methods I have. Now, if you list your problems here, the guys will help but it is advisable to tell them what the problems are. Now I'm still not clear, have you bought a kit from Chesil and had another person build it. If that's the case , it's not quite the same as buying a car from Chesil. But you still have the right for help where they can. You have the contact methods.......contact them.

Mate, they won't answer the phone to me. They know the problems and don't want to own them. I'm fully aware of the contact address and numbers, I've been down to Chesil 6 times. Do you really think I'd spend all that money getting them to build it to then not call them about things going wrong.

But you still wont say what's wrong ? You seem to have had a bad experience....I haven't. Aussie asked for recommendations....you say they're bad but don't say why. That's not a balanced view or fair......my recommendation to Aussie would be good. I hope you get your car sorted because they are the most fun ever.....and really eye catching. Every time I go out, I get comments, all admiring. Hope you get sorted.

I cannot say why at the moment and thank god I didn't with you running off emailing them. You say I've had a bad experience, I'm in the middle of my bad experience hence why I'm guarded to what I write. I would want anyone else to go through what I'm am at this moment. I'm not being difficult by not saying I'm sure your can understand what I mean

All manufacturers read this site....why wouldn't they ? Loubelou, I truely hope you get your car sorted. It's the most fun I have ever had with a car.

Oh dear, I did nt say they wouldn't. I couldn't see why you had to email them. Give me a couple of months and you'll see all what's wrong with the car. I'm glad yours is ok so all the best enjoying it

Loubelou, I thought you wanted help fixing it, whatever that may take. These cars are not Mazda MX5's (Miata's to these guys in the USA) Miata's drive with no hassles and look OK but they don't look as good....anywhere near as good. A guy with an Aston Martin will give your car the thumbs up and a guy in a Farrari will have a second take when he see's you....I know, it's happened to me.

Personally I wouldn't have panned Chesil publicly on here before going directly to them to help you with the car.  

And 12 months to build a Chesil when you expected 3?  That's pretty off right there.

 

I hope you get that Speedster sorted because you will have more fun and get more thumbs up than you will in your A-M.

 

Last, there's not a more giving, helping and smart bunch of people for help than right here on the SOC.  Many problems are actually simple if you can state what you need help with.

I bet that you were not aware that SOC used to be exclusively for Miata owners and I bet 80 or 90 percent of us still own them.

 

Aston Martin? I bet you dress up in a tux, stand in front of a mirror and do your best, "Bond, James Bond"...

Back when the SOC was exclusively for Miata owners it was called the POP.

As opposed to POS.

I think Theron should tack on an 'Entertainment Tax' along with the membership fee.
