Whoa this has escalated, you go away for a while and this happens haha. I love seeing the age old discussion over which car is better, to which there will never be an agreed point of view, its a beautiful thing. But comments for those supplying the cars in particular such a niche type, I cant tell you enough the importance of putting the customer at the centre of everything you do, so a call back or an email could go a long way, but hey I wouldnt complain I would just go elsewhere. Oh and just to wage in on this discussion, I just watched a mazda MX5 ( miata ) on the weekend race against a viper, a porsche GT3 and a Ferrari f430 factory race car, it held its own quite well, but the Turbo was almost as big as the car hahaha, it was cool.

Hey Lou ,actually mcgurk just emailed me back, he waspretty prompt, they supply a complete car but unfortunately can't be imported toaustralia, shame really they look like they have quite an attention to detail, and the shape looks true to the original. I'm going to the US soon so I will try and find one while I'm there and send it home. Maybe I should buy some moulds and sell them in australia haha. I really hope you get your sorted, they are such a beautiful looking car.

Aussie

Welcome to the forum.

I have a LHD speedster and have a few thoughts on LHD and rego. process.

What Aussie state are you in?

Perhaps contact me via a dialogue - top right - I can give you some options. It probably will not interest those outside Australia reading about our rego. process and difficult import process!!

Enjoy the forum and friendship on site here.

I just got my Intermeccanica Speedster fully road registered in Melbourne/Australia. As an architect, I found it more difficult than getting a building permit for a 2 storey dwelling!! It has been costly but well worth every penny. Don't expect much change for your $45-50K. My only advice, get one with the build date as early as possible. The later the build date; the more costly it gets in order for the required modifications for ADR compliance (Australian Design Rules).

Thanks Aussie. It was hell getting it registered, everyone discouraged me to do it saying it was impossible and just take the easy way out with a club permit and I said damn no! I want drive it 365 days of the year. Being a designer really helped, I had to design/engineered anti intrusion bars to both doors, design ADR/Engineer approved mounts for the ADR approved shoulder/lap seatbelts, collapsible steering column with NATA x-rayed/certified welds, reduce decibel rating of the exhaust and so on and so forth..etc..etc...I'm tired just thinking about it. As I've said, make sure you get one with an early build date!!! An Intermeccanica while you're at it...

Oh, and yes to the catch-up Bernie!!

Al that's impressive, I really like the way it sits. For me it would only be a weekend car but I cannot believe the pain you went through, definitely will make sure I get an early build car.. I tried universal in south Africa but no reply. I recall a business in Melbourne doing speedsters called rc speedsters, anyone know if they are still there ??

I hope you enjoy that beast for a long, long time.
