Congrats Michael, you need to post those Pix as you receive them during the build out process. and of course the welcome song but you also need to learn the ways of the S.E.G. or SEG as we call it.. I am not at liberty to say but I am sure some well natured SOC'er will fill you in here.. LOL.. Keep the sun to your back and the breeze in your hair.. (Kinda tough on an island!)

Ben,
If you're thinking of moving here, please look me up. I SHOULD have my car by then( SAW speedster) and would love to have company. There are only two speedy replicas that I have seen here, and one of those owners is living in Bali right now, so I can use the company. Lots of twisty backroads Upcountry as well as Hana Highway ( 900 curves). If you're thinking about buying a house, it is definitely a buyer's market right now. Lots of forclosures too.
Dave,

I've only seen one coupe here, a red '64 sc which was selling a few years back ( 8+ years ago ) for 10K. Other than that, haven't seen a faded white one. There's a red speedy I keep passing going the other way. I hope to track him down soon to find out how he registerd it.
Kite sailing's all the rage now with many windsurfers switching over. Lots of dislocated shoulders and elbows these days. Hookipa and Sprecks still has the board sailers, but new spots have opened up for kites where the sails weren't all that suited for the conditions. Some animosity between the two groups in the beginning, but all working out now.
Mike, Who did you use to ship it and did you specify a closed container. Besides registration , shipping is causing me the most anxiety.
The Big Island is definitely the best place for a speedy. The roads are in much better shape than Maui's and if you want winding, you've go Saddle Road and that high road from Kailua Kona to Kamuela( don't remember the name). Try going to Waipio Valley. Should be a good test for your brakes!
I was actually kidding about Waipio Valley. I didn't know it was closed. Was that since the earthquake last year?
When I lived in Kailua-Kona , I had a 1980 Suzuki 4wd. It looked like an old fashioned jeep but was a small hardtop. I went into Waipio Valley OK but coming out some hikers begged me to let them sit on the hood on the way up as they were exhausted. I let them but stopped 1/2 way up as I was afraid we would tip over backwards. That is one steep road!
