Hey,

I ordered this from CIP. Unfortunately, it did not come with instructions. I already replaced the front and back transaxle mounts. The strap pointed to by the blue arrow intuitively looks like it should go over the bellhousing of the transaxle. Where does the strap pointed to by the red arrow go? Thanks in advance.

It goes over the top of the trans at about the location of where the drain plug resides. It should bolt to the frame horns via some sort of clamps or brackets.
Be aware that these strap kits make for a SOLID mounted trans. You'll feel and HEAR every grumble vibration and noise that a tranny can make!

that kit is to keep the trans in place if you JUMP THE CAR. It's worthless on the street (may as well tape the box to your transmission, it's about as good).

I suggest reading http://aircooled.net/gnrlsite/resource/articles/dragsetup.htm for info on what works and what doesn't.

But that main hoop does go over the trans bellhousing. It's meant to keep the transmission on the mounts and frame horns (like when you jump your car). If you are going to be getting chased by Roscoe P. Coltrane it's the right part, but if not it's a waste of $ and time.

All,

Thanks for the info. I have already installed the transmission mounts. I still have the urethane mounts if I think the car is too noisy.

As for the wheels, these are not mine. I pulled the pictures off eBay to ask other Speedster owners about where to get a set of similar rims. I wound up going with Mustang 17" rims and custom made adapters. Take a look at the pics. Thanks again.

More pics. I went with the tires that I had. When these wear out (and I will be trying to wear them out fast ;-> ), I will go with much wider tires as I have plenty of room.

Photo 6 shows how narrow these look on the car. They looked much bigger when I was demounting and mounting these with a pair of tire irons (would not recommend to anyone).

Hey Paul!

While it may not be a cruise down the coast, check out the 'Arrowhead Run' posts under "Events". It would be a great opportunity for you to show off your ride and enjoy a day on some mountain roads with other SOC'ers.

Or, if you have a particular area you like to cruise, just post your idea and tentative dates and see who responds. It may be a haphazard process, but once-in-a-while it all clicks and semi-organized cruise happens!

Looking forward to seeing your car in person!
