Ah. Same ending either way. I'm sorta surprised he hasn't suffered a broken bone or two in his long history of cheating people.
After all this time, with the perception we (Canadians) have of you people willing to take matters into your own hands, I'm still surprised that no one who's been suckered by this guy hasn't bought a plane ticket, after landing, visited a local sporting goods store for a Louisville Slugger and then paid him a visit...
And my apologies, but who gives a sh*t about roll up windows when there's no car to put them in?
And then of course, this-
I guess people that ordered despite the info. are wanting to believe he will build them one of the amazing cars he advertises. I bet the car would cost $70K plus today to build correctly and he tells the mark they can get it for $40K. I wonder if Steve says something like this " With a mere $10-$15K down payment we can get this car started in production. You can't believe everything you read online. Fake news you know."
I scanned through some of the comments on the forum linked by Jim Kelley and what really struck me was a few (not just one) people who said something like "I went against the comments of a few people on here and ordered a car from SAS anyway."
Or one of the classic excuses: "I went to visit his shop and it was pretty busy and he is very persuasive and convinced me it was a good deal."
Jay-Sus Mary and Joseph!
The guy has, like, ZERO credibility and hasn't shipped a confirmed car in over five years and yet, people are still willing to give him deposits based on zero credibility and smoke screens!
I totally agree with @Robert M:
You will NEVER get a car built by Steve Lawing from SAS. A phone call won't help and neither will an in-person visit. Get a (good) attorney and get your money back. The sooner the better.
Try getting the Tennessee Attorney General involved, too. You're probably not alone.
How often does it need to be said? If you actually read half of what's here (and everywhere else on this great big interweb) about peoples' trials and tribulations and STILL trust the guy's pie in the sky dreams...
What Robert said-
YOU WILL NEVER GET A CAR BUILT BY STEVE LAWING FROM SAS
He has not built a car in what- 7 or 8 years? Someone, please ask him when the last time was that a finished car rolled out of his shop? The man's business is taking deposits, and the sooner you accept it and move on the better.
My point here- anyone running across this thread while researching a possible build, get it through your head- this is not a person you want to deal with. If you've already talked to him and are in any way persuaded by what he's saying,
READ EVERYTHING HERE AGAIN (AND AGAIN AND AGAIN) UNTIL YOU UNDERSTAND WHO YOU ARE THINKING OF DEALING WITH- HE'S BEEN DOING IT FOR A LONG TIME AND IS GOOD AT CONVINCING PEOPLE TO PART WITH THEIR HARD EARNED CASH WITH NOTHING IN RETURN. I KNOW WHAT HE SAYS SOUNDS GOOD, BUT WALK AWAY- IT WILL BE ONE OF THE SMARTEST THINGS YOU'LL EVER DO!
