Interesting history but can't say I'm a fan of the look overall.
It will be returned to its factory self in 2 years max after purchase. It’s got terrible bodywork and the pad dash is pretty bad. Who knows, maybe someone who really loves the artist will buy it and keep it as is. I doubt it though.
I read the ad. A lot of the mechanical work was done by Dick Hyland. He was known to do very good work, but he has been retired for a while now. His shop was about twenty minutes from me.
I agree, the padded dash is unfortunate. The body work is interesting at best...
I do like the X-bracing in the door openings.
I’m a bit disappointed that that big honking fairing wasn’t covering a roll bar, what with the cross bracing in the doors. Kind of weird, but unique like Dean Jeffries’ Carrera. I hope someone will buy it who wants it as is anc wants to preserve it.
I’m afraid I agree with Lead Pedal. If a flipper buys it, they’ll return it to stock and toss all that custom metalwork. It may or may not be worth more because of the provenance, but it will definitely have a wider audience as a stock Speedster.
I think it’s pretty cool.
