Of course it all depends on the condition of the chassis but I would certainly start with all new bushings (preferably urethane) for front and rear suspensions as well as new boots for the axles. Make sure and inspect those CV joints; depending on how they've been used (or abused) they might need changing. Also inspect your cables (emergency brake, clutch, accelerator), floor pans, steering box & damper, all shocks, ball joints, spindles and most definitely spring for a set of at least front disc brakes. I suggest you sit down with a Bugpack or EMPI catalog and browse through it; I'm pretty sure you won't miss anything on your list that way. Good luck...gotta go and watch the debate....

I need some input, prety much a list of all components that need to be included in my shopping list for the resto of a IRS rolling pan

as you guys keep on mentioning I'll edit this initial post so we can share with interested
Thanks!

so far
* bushings (preferably urethane) for front and rear suspensions
* boots for the axles
* Inspect those CV joints
* emergency cables
* clutch cable
* accelerator cable
* floor pans
* steering box & damper,
* all shocks
* ball joints
* spindles
* front disc brakes
* Adjustable front beam/adjusters
* or lowered spindles or both
* Front and rear sway bars and bushings
* shift bushing and coupler
* aftermarket quality shifter
* brake hoses, both flexible rubber and steel pipes.
If you are using adjuster to lower the front CIP makes a set of ball joints for this purpose. Standard ones bind it certain positions. Like when the suspension is bottomed out.

If you are putting a swing axle in dont forget to change the inner flange seals and axle seals. I would put in new axle bearings as well. If yo put in rear disks, there is a couple of things to watch for: 1) VW made 3 different end caps for the swing (different depths on the bearing cup), depending on the aftermarket disc kit, you may have to get different caps to get the caliper brackets to tighten down. 2) Some times a little grinding on the bearing caps is required to make the hole larger. The caliper inside (around the axle) is sometimes to large for the cap.

Doing IRS? New V joints and axle bearings.
