I'm working on my wiring and using grommets where the wires pass through the fiberglass.

The grommets available from places like the local hardware store and Radio Shack have a narrow groove that would fit sheet metal but not thicker fiberglass.

I have ordered some online, but the shipping cost killed me.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

You are right. They can cost an arm and a leg buying individual ones. There is a little more choice at the auto parts store rotating rack (body attachment hardware rack) but ones for thicker things may be a problem. I have drilled the hole to fit commonly available "tygon" tubing which I silicon in place to reduce "rub". Any tubing will work. Just match the drill bit and silicon the tubing in the hole.

Michael....I use 1/4 inch fuel line, cut to length, split and the ends bevel cut....When size is finalized, shoot the groove with silicone and install.....Wait 8 to 12 hrs. (depends on silicone used.) I've had to use 5/16 in a couple of places...With fuel lin at $2.00 to $4.00 a ft., its an econo fix.....Make sure the wiring will pass thru before gluing as removal can be a chore.....If passing thru the fire wall, or bulkhead, I shoot the whole thing with silicone as weather insurance....

Just a thought....
Restoration Specialties. has a Wide varity of them. including I think marine applcations. But don't qouat me on that.

I got my booties for my bumper brackets there. and fuzzies for my rollup windows. they also have a fastiner line thats pretty impressive.

I persoaly like Soft/seal for all the rest of the hood and door seals . they do have a porsche line.

I'd also check Mc Master Carr...
Maybe Home Depot and the like?

They have those neat two piece screw together nylon "grommets" for wires to pass in and out of outside air conditioning units and such. I bet that the electrical section would have some swell stuff for you. Little thingies for wiring stove hoods and microwaves and gas water heaters and all.

Maybe . . .
