Thanks to everyone for the compliments.
Excellent piece on Ruby and tribute to Jim Ward!
Here are a couple of pics (sorry for small format) of Jim & Ruby on one of his last trips to the West coast.

I am using the pictures of your nice speedster as a guide to what I would like mine to look like. Well, close to yours, but I doubt it will ever come that close in looks. Thanks for sharing your car with us, in photos . The link was good to the magazine story.

What a touching story. When the annals of the SOC are written Jim ward and his Ruby will have an entire chapter.
Kudos to Allan for making that Speedster look as good as the day it was born---maybe even better. I wish In could have known Jim but he passed just as I was getting into the madness. He lived not too far from me and I know we would have caravanned together to Carlisle.
Congrats, Allan for taking a first prize at last weekend's car show in Eureka Springs, AR. Alice and I enjoyed our time with you and Bobbi.
Having been around since a little before the first Carlisle, I well remember Jim. He was quite an active member of SOC, and of course we all followed his exploits in Ruby.
It's sad that he is no longer with us, but he does survive in the memories of many of us, and in his beautiful car.
I'll never forget being "Mission Central" for a couple of his extended road trips. We would talk for 45 minutes, me furiously writing notes and then getting them posted on here. There was just a constant flow of Jim's thoughts of the day, and even the trivial took on a lot of significance because, well......it was JIM's trip and he was enjoying absolutely everything on it.
Thank you, Al, for taking such good care of Ruby and perpetuating her life with class.
After reading the article in Car Builder and Jim’s SOC biography plus threads I conclude this is the Jim I flew with in Vietnam. The following is additional circumstantial information that helped to make this decision. In 1990 Del a pilot looked me up via internet. In our phone conversation he asked if I keep in touch with the ‘Outcast’, unit name and radio call sign. I told him no but the conversation we talked about Jim and he forwarded to me an e-mail he just received from Jim writing about his disease and treatments. I sent Jim an e-mail but he never replied. Interesting to see in the cc block on Jim’s e-mail the full name of Randy, somebody I knew in hi school so; send him a message to confirm it is the same person. Randy and I re-bonded but didn’t talk about Jim. Earlier this year Randy called to say he’ll be in the area to visit family and let’s have a family reunion. Forty five years since I’ve seen him and his family. I talked about Jim in Vietnam and he said they were very close friends and worked together in air traffic control for over 15 years. I asked how he is doing. He said Jim passed away about 10 years ago. I have some pictures of Jim and I in Vietnam which prompts me to open the photo book and see their condition. In addition, if they are recoverable I’ll scan and store as jpg. If they are recoverable I will share with anybody interested. I would very much appreciate sending me jpg images of Jim and his speedy. My e-mail address is on the SOC profile. Thanks.
Bill mine is a CMC like yours and one of projects is replace the curtain Lexan. Here are images of the rubber that contact the window posts. The lower rubber gasket/seals on both curtains were missing when my brother gave me the car so finding a like replacement would be one of my questions to the SOC community.

Dennis Check McMaster Carr for the rubber seals. I have found that they have some that will work perfectly. You can but it buy the foot
SkyCraft in Winter Park has different sizes. I just bought some last week. Sold by the ft.
Alan: What a great and timely tribute you and Steve have put together! This Labor Day Weekend happens to be the 8th anniversary of Jim's passing. I just can't believe it's been that long ago! Your article is testament that "Gone, But Not Forgotten" is more than applicable with regards to memories of Jim Ward!

I need to inform y’all of a typo concerning my friendship with Jim Ward in Vietnam. I said in the year 1990 a pilot found my location via an internet search and called me. I meant to say the year is 2000. In 1990 the internet was in its infancy still be developed by Al Gore.
