Wilhoit Restorations out in Long Beach, CA has a restored set 4-sale. Not sure what you mean by Fort Knox, but the selling price is $15k which includes the special drums (not just the knock-off adapter) that are needed to actually use the wheels. Oh yeah, $15k is for a set of 4 wheels.
If its just the 'look' of the Rudge wheels you're after (and not the functionality aspect of knock off wheels...or the headache of wondering where you'll get you next set of drums when the Rudge ones go below tolerance.....or the worry of parking your car somewhere with a set of wheels worth as much as some cars....or....I'll stop there), check out the photo in my file (can't attach it here for some reason. Disc brakes with the look of Rudge wheels for - I am certain - a fraction of the price of genuine wheels. This comes from an article on the Speedster 50th in the Sept/Oct Registry magazine.
Howard,
no such animal. Original Rudge wheels require special center locking hubs and brake rotors. They have no bolts.
Recently a set of OEM Rudge two prong center lock "knock off's" (damaged no less) sold for around 5k on Ebay last month.
You can buy the two prong spinners and a set of 4 bolt chrome wheels along with a 5 to 4 bolt adapter for less than $300.00 to achieve the look below.
See adds in Hot VW or VW Trends magazine for chrome wheels and two prong chrome spinners.

Good Luck
Mel,

If you decide to go w/ the spinners, I can offer this:
the set screws that hold them to the hub are not enough. What you'll need to do is mark the 3 or 4 holes and drill small indents to act like sets. This will keep them from getting loose and flying off. Also, be sure to measure carefully, or they'll spin with a wobble.

CEH
Glenn, the tires are Michelin XZX 145's - quite small but it handles well due to the relatively small sidewall. The redlines are a latex addition to the tire. Not sure who does this in CA but it can easily be applied to any tire - would look awesome on a beetle!

Gordon - thanks for the comments on the car, it's originally from the US. I was after a replica Speedster, but due to the difficulties of registering replicas in Australia, I opted for a real coupe instead.
