Lane and Arron scored big time. This place is beautiful. Planned community with lots of stuff to do. Sandy might be giving the credit card a workout here. Took us 12 hours with 3 short stops. Sandy got used to driving the Porsche pretty quick. Had to remind her a couple of times to keep it under triple digits. Cops all over the place. Just under 700 miles. The twisties from Sieverville to Asheville were ia little white knukled in the dark but I took my time as it goes on for at least 30 miles.. This place is huge and we don't know where to meet everybody. Lane I'll try to call you. Marty
Marty - Left you a voicemail. I can swing by the hotel around 10:30 or so, pick y'all up and we can get our tickets today. I recommend that because we won't be able to buy them Sunday since we have to be there well before the sales office opens. Alternatively, we could buy them after the museum cruise, but we need to get them today or tomorrow, and tomorrow may be kinda full.

Lunch reservations are at 11:30, so Nolan may need to give one of us a call when he gets in. That way we can make sure he hooks up with us.
Except for Aaron's unfortunate hit & run, it was a great weekend. Fabulous weather, great cars & great friends. We welcomed Hugh Tackett into the fold, and Lane asked Hugh to please return next year.........as long as he didn't bring me with him !!

Mucho pics to follow, thanx to Christie, Sandy & Lane
OMG, what a wonderful weekend! Everyone besides Leon (staying at the Hilton one more night) and I (at my inlaws) are on the way home if not there already. I have many pictures as does everyone else, and I expect Sandy G to be working on another video production.

Weather - Perfect (ok, maybe a little brisk first thing in the morning)

Scenery - Magnificent! The Blue Ridge was spectacular, the Biltmore was incredible, and the museum was fantastic.

Food - Wow! We had some wonderful meals at Chelsea's, Travinia's, The Fiddlin' Pig, the Mount Mitchell state park restaurant, The Bistro at the Biltmore - all in all I probably gained 5 pounds.

People - Our happy crew welcomed Scott and Christine Teele into the fold. They fit right in and will be a great addition to the Carlisle Follies.

What a great time this was!

Oh yeah - the pictures in front of the mansion should be fantastic. More details to follow.
How about not "one of these days", but next year? We were swapping ideas about what to do already, but everyone agreed that much will remain the same.

1. Probably do the Hilton again.
2. Gotta include the Biltmore and Blue Ridge Parkway.
3. Many of the same restaurants (Travinia's, Chelsea's, F'n Pig, Bistro at the Biltmore).
4. Try to figure out how to include Little Switzerland and maybe The Diamondback (rival to the Tail of the Dragon).
5. Consider moving the date a couple of weeks earlier for warmer, top-down weather.

John, Jack, and Richard - No cruises, christenings, or sick time next year, ok? Y'all missed a great one.
Panamera?? It needs bigger flairs. The pics look good, Did ya get any of the lady trying to hitch a ride??

7.9 tenths of fuel and from 2:00 to 7:00 with a few traffic delays I was back in Siler City NC close to home. Haven't done the milage yeat. But even thou I averaged 70 most of the way it's not bad.

The turns and hills sure gave oldyeler a workout. I was fairly pleased with my car, all said and done..

Guys I enjoyed it. And I want to do it again..
There's always next year, Barry.

I've been getting lots of kudos for setting this up, and while appreciated, it's not entirely fair to the others who made this so much fun.

Tom Raymond - Thanks for the wonderful experience at the Wheels Through Time museum.

Aaron White - Great food, music, and company at the Fiddlin' Pig, despite your misfortune. The fantastic cruise on the parkway was also scouted by Aaron.

Marty & Sandy G - Saturday dinner was fantastic due to their efforts at Travinia's. Setting up the private room made it so much more fun.

Everyone - Good time and great company!
Here's my pics, hope you enjoy although they are out of sequence. One day I'll figure out how to edit slideshows.

The 8th Air Force Museum is dedicated to the men that flew with the 8th Air Force during WWII. It also honors those that served in other branches of the Service and Vietnam. It's located near Savannah, Georgia and is worth the time to stop by, we spent 3 hours and then ate lunch in their pub.

More info on how to organize. You'll have to login as the album's owner and select that album to edit. Then you'll see "Organize" as the third tab from the right near the top of the screen. Click on that and a screen will come up that allows you to drag and drop. Just click on a picture you want to move and drag it - leaving the mouse button down - until you get it where you want it. Then release the button. Easy peasy.
Sandy put together a video of the Smokies Run. We were a small group so I hope you don't get bored seeing our ugly mugs over and over. Anyways, please take some time and enjoy! This is a beautiful part of the country and I hope that many more will join us next year. Oh yeah, Sandy really likes the Boxster. We had a few A-holes that would drive their one ton dually's right up our ass on the highway. I don't know if was the red Porsche or the fact there was a hot chick driving a red Porsche. She would step on the gas and create huge seperation, they would evenyually catch up and we would do it again:)
