Ok, we have the Bugorama Sunday the 30th. Darn decent weather forecast in the 70's!

I have sent seventeen invitations to people who are within a reasonable driving distance.

They are: Me, Jim, Terry, Ray, Dale, Bob, Ernie, Alan, Troy, Dave, Brian, Kurt, Gene, Eddie, Bob #2, Andrew, and Arthur.

PapaDale will be in Disney Land...

Would love to see Angela/Steve and Indian Hill Bruce - Oregon, hmmm, not that far, but iffy.

I"ve also invited several celebrities (Lance is now available) and the Swedish Female Acrobatic Synchronized Swim Team.

Anyone else?

Angelenos grab a plane and come on up.

i will be there w/o car. i sold the white one today. my mechanic had my new one fri and saturday till 3pm. he picked me up and i was driving him back to his house and the webers started acting up and we were almost to his house and BLAM, a oil hose from the motor to the oil filter blew and the smoke looked worse than the recent volcano.
not a good day for me. i will bring my trusty dodge diesel and walk in. Hmmmm, Cummins turbo in a speedy, might fit.
There were a half dozen speedsters at Sacramento Raceway:

Gene's black 912 powered outlaw, Alan's racer, Ernie's creamer - nice exhaust, Terry's copper penny, Dave with Patrick Friel's old silver IM - neat license AG 356, and me with my 2110 sorted-out-entry-level-machine.

Notables without cars were Dale, Dave, Paul, Bob, and Jim. Likely missed someone. All had really good reasons.

Walk-ins were charged too much for the event! All rates were raised this year, no comment just sayin'

Always enjoy the VW events, creativity, craftsmanship and such, guess about 500 cars. One guy had a beetle with rust patina. The dude clear coated it!

Another record was set at the drags, a beetle bodied machine called the Red Baron smashed thru the quarter mile clock at over 173 mph! You'll see it in Hot VW magazine - four months or so. Others in the field were hitting 140 to 150. No secret - turbos all over the place.

Only two speedsters racing. One with a female driver, a regular at Bugorama, was off this year, 100 - 110 range. Also a 356 coupe from Simi Valley (?) with a dark primer gray paint scheme. I talked to his kid who said "dad has only had 14 runs since the car was finished."

Terry Nuckles and Dale Bates scored a nice black thick grip steering wheel. They had a hex-wrench and did the swap on the spot. Nardi to the den wall I guess, maybe not a Nardi, Terry has unique tastes.

Send me an email if you would like to know how much they paid for it :-)

Nice wrap, Sludge!
What is it with guys named Dale winning stuff "Left" and "Right" this year? OUR Dale (over here on this coast) came away from the Speedsters Meet Spyders raffle with some Speedster swag of his own -- and HE showed up without a Speedster, too -- in ** gasp ** an MG TD replica!

I love this group. This sh*t is cool. Rock on!
we came by a couple of times to empty chairs. I did finally get to speak to Ernie, who remembered me from last year. I did manage to take a picture. I love Terry's car color. Could be a favorite but don't tell the others. Favorite shirt of the day "i like cats, i just can't eat a whole one myself." the swap meet seemed bigger than previous years or 1. i am getting older or 2. car parts are really starting to look all alike. $20 seemed like alot to get in but mild compared to what thunder valley casino cost me later. sorry i didn't get to meet more of you. Jessica,
Sorry I missed you as well.
Penny says thank-you! Interesting...50% of the men like the color and 100% of the women like it. I think I made the right choice.
Planning a Tahoe Loop run in the next month for the NorCal group and will post details soon. Hope you and you're silent partner can join us.

By the way, does Bob ever talk?
I don't want to jump in too soon on Terry's upcoming Tahoe run for the northern members of SOC but he sent me some of his thoughts and it is ALL good. Terry is an expert in the Tahoe/Gold country area and knows the best roads. This will be a very sweet and beautiful drive with lots of scenics for photos and there is not to many straight miles. His planned stop for lunch is phenominal.

I'm really looking forward to the drive. Go Terry!
terry, You mean marrying him wasn't enough. i have to let him talk also? Bob's response was "when i can get a word in, does he know you're italian? Usually when Bob talks, it is to make fun of me. Unfortionatly, i supply plenty of ammunition. A nor cal ride would be fun. will look for postings. Bob's wife Jessica #1 in a series
