For all that have ever attended. Sac BOR is this weekend. Racing, show, swap, bikini contest,.....

Dale always wins first, but it will still be fun. Bring your car and hang out. I hope to be there with the 56 rag running in the Der Renn Kafer Cup.

If you see me,..say hi. I should have the RV there with some refreshments.

Pat, I don't know if I will be bringing the car this time, the work schedule is conflicting with my car life. I may come up just to hang out with one of the nicest guys in VW'dom.

After I visit with him, I'll come over and have one of your beers! Send my your cell#

I looked at your pics and they are wonderful.

Congrats Dale! I think you have enough of those trophies.

I made it with the ragtop. It showed very well. Some carb trouble kept us off the track and it was probably a good thing. Racing SUCKED!

There were two major oil downs and a bad wreck.

Ran into Ray, didn't see MB, gave Dale a quick kiss, but he disappeard for the rest of the day,..probably to keep people away from his car while the film crew was working.

Re the bad wreck at Sacramento, I was just over to my local VW shop and Dan was down there with his two sons. The wreck happened right in front of his oldest son. He said it was a fibreglass bodied VW, kinda like a speedster, but obviously a drag car. The front end lifted off the ground and went into the guard rail, car turned upside down I guess. The driver was obviously hurt pretty bad as they could hear him groaning. The worst part of the deal was that they couldn't get the ambulance started, what a freak deal! Haven't heard how the guy was doing but Dan said it appeared he was in pretty bad shape. He indicated his son couldn't talk for about 1/2 hour he was so shaken.
I asked him how fast he was going when he lifted off and he speculated about 135.
Broken collar bone, a couple of ribs, cut his leg. He was probably doing about 110mph or there abouts in the 11.90 class. May have lifted, but could also have possibly been tapping the brakes as not to break out, the oil on the track, the cross wind....a combo of all of the above. He was the #1 qualifier for the field too.

Dan is doing better and should be released today I believe. He is very lucky.
