I may have mentioned this before (?) but was reminded of it when talking with Henry at IM this morning.

For those of you with electric fuel pumps (or thinking of converting from stock to an electric pump) you might want to get a resettable impact sensitive relay switch. These are wired into the 12V+ power supply side of the fuel pump; a forceful impact (as in an accident) trips the relay switch and shuts off the fuel pump. If the car is still driveable you reset the relay switch and keep driving.

Just a fire prevention technique.

Another option is to use an oil pressure switch that shuts off the fuel pump in case of an impact or a fire, when the engine dies and the oil pressure drops. I like to use a momentary spring loaded bypass switch in case I need to fill the float bowls or something similar. Eddie
