25th Annual StreetMasters Christmas Cruise Car Show this Sunday at Torrey Pines High School, Del Mar Heights road, in Del Mar. Bring an unwrapped toy. No pre-registration. I'm gunna convoy there with a fellow who has an early fifties Ford Pan Americana Mexican Road Race car. Should be interesting.

or

Cars and Coffee on the Mesa this Sunday, at the JBA Performence Center on Kearny Villa Road.

or

American Muscle Showdown this Sunday at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

Ahh, life is full of decisions, even in the middle of winter!

I'm also helping a friend introduce a totally new show concept Feb 13th in downtown La Jolla. Annual Orphan Cars and Handcrafted Vehicles Meet. Don't think this combo has been tried before, but here is another kit car show for southern Cal. More details later.

Dave O - The last C & C I went to at JBA only had about 30 cars, nearly all Mustangs and Camaros - so I went to another show that same day! With three shows this Sunday, I'm guessing that C & C will be another small show. It just hasn't really "clicked" yet, not like the crowd we used to see at the Museum.

Why not try the StreetMasters at Del Mar?
Hi David, I wondered if it was all Stangs at the C&C. I think I will pass tomorrow and work on the bug.

Jim, clap hard and cheer loudly. See you next time.

I have been in the process of restoring the interior on my 64' and got the rear interior back together, restored seats, sound deadner, carpet and rear quarter panels all installed like new!
Great fun, I think I will press on and complete the interior tomorrow and go to the next show.

Have fun,
Dave
David K - thanks for the heads-up! I'd like to do the StreetMasters gig at Del Mar (plus its less of a commute).

Dave O - Hope we can get it together at Del Mar and that you bring your '64 bug. Maybe Will will then bring his '67 bug.

Dave M - yep! Straight from Agana. Only other time I've been back was on a stopover on the way to Vietnam to patch up wounded grunts. Guamaniac was the 'nomme de plume' given deservedly-so by my fellow comrades! Luckily I left the island before it could capsize from the weight of extraneous military personnel (according to Congressman from Mississippi). 8-)

Peace - Out!
Here is a pix of my friends Carrera PanAmerican Mexican Road Race car. It is a 54 Ford. It was exported to Argentina where Juan Peron sponsered it. All together, six Fords were entered in the 1954 race, three flathead V8s and three inline sixes. None of the V8s finished due to overheating. All three of the sixes finished, including this one (in something like 36th place).

The inside is stripped of most upholstery, back seats, floor mats and anything else that wasn't tied down! The roll bar is caveman. The back seat contains a 36 gallon gas tank in addition to the stock tank. Hope the driver didn't smoke! Transmission is three on the tree, non synchro first gear. A bungee cord ensures the front hood remains down at speed. Car was bought from a museum and is in original condition.

The car is stored about 8 houses down the street from me.
