Just got a confirming Email:

"Cars and Coffee in the Park arrives again this Sunday, January 18, 2009 from 7-9 AM in front of the San Diego Automotive Museum. Please join the fun. There were 110 cars here for the last Cars and Coffee, and that was only four days before Christmas!"

Anyone wanting to get on a monthly Email reminder should contact Bud at bud@sdautomuseum.org. I don't think being a museum member is required to receive the email.

Mickey,

That was the desired response LOL!

Just kidding, I do feel lucky about the weather but watch out for the fires and earthquakes.

Oh yeah I forgot, the other guys gave me major grief when I showed up with the top up and windows rolled up. Thats how warm it was.

If you come to SD for some sun this winter look me up and we will cruise.

Looks like it was a day to ride folks... Lili and I hit to road too. we headed out and cruz'ed to some local malls to shop, walk and eat. Had a sweet looking convertable Jag pull up next to us by a local casino and this good looking gal rolled down her tinted window and asked "what year" so I said 57, then she mentioned she had a 58 at home.. Lili and I looked at each other and we both said isn't that the actress from (some TV show) yeah it looked like it.. Too funny...

Speedster "D" "Hob-nopping"
A Type 35 Bugatti replica parked next to a new Ferrari coupe. Three speedsters and an early 911 huddling in harmony. A Laser 917-30 Porsche replica with an aluminum Chevy small block. Good conversation. Free donuts. Warm sun. Ride home past downtown, past Mission Bay, a side trip up Mount Soladad, see maybe 35 miles of surf and shoreline - in both directions. If this is madness then indeed I openly embraace it. Life is goood.
OK so who from SD area is thinking about Morro Bay in the spring? I never took my car that far before and was downloading the overland routes with perhaps a stop around Santa Barbara or Ventura to break it up. Anyone considering that? You can do Mapquest and check without freeways and get there but still a long journey with old cars.

Fred - we certainly hope you make the trip to Morro Bay. You won't regret it!

For the past few years, we've organized an SOC caravan to Paso Robles/Morro Bay. Depending on your point of trip origin the rendevous points to hook up with this Friday morning caravan were;

1. 405/Seal Beach (Orange County)
2. 405/Torrance (L.A area)
3. PCH/Topanga Canyon (Malibu Beach/Valley area)
4. 101/Los Posas (Cruise up Malibu Coast to Camarillo)
5. 101/Santa Barbara (lunch stop)
6. On to Morro Bay (exit onto Highway 1 at San Luis Obispo)

We typically leave the Malibu Beach rendevous point at 10:30am and arrive in Morro Bay around 3:00-4:00 (depending on traffic/pit-stops).

Its a bitchen drive up the coast, in a caravan of 10-15 Speedsters/Spyders. More details will appear under the 'Events' thread as the time draws near.

OK I am intending to be in..............

As soon as this miserable rain stops, I plan to stress the beast a bit to make sure it can make it. I've only put a few miles on it since I got it from Michigan, putting a few hundred hours into it and some noises still worry me like the whirling noise that speeds up with me when accelerating (like something tranny engaging but I can't find any trace to figure it out).

I will keep watching and "comply" with needed confirmations as the date gets closer. I might go up early to Camarillo (MOM) and join the caravan there.

Cars and Coffee was on Chasing Classic Cars on HD Theater channel(364 on Dishnet). I think the episode was titled Porsches, Porsches, Porsches. The emcee/main character picks up a 1965 911(early S/N, mostly original) and tries to turn it for a few bucks.

Anyway, C & C is featured and there is an RSK there with #55 gumball on it, whose is it? They spoke with Freeman Thomas(New Beetle designer), who had a original 356 hardtop. The top looked removable, but I couldn't say for sure.
