Jim,

the car I am hoping to bring is the speedster if it is finished in time.

the motor will have to be swapped, the trim installed, gauges, door panels, the top, the front windshield.....just a little list.

The 56 Rag is still getting the final touches for the Sacto BOR show where we hope to be competative in the DRKC.

Patrick -

Bummed I can't make the Sac show next weekend - good luck with your rag-top. Do you also go to the VW show in Las vegas - they have a killer set-up for the track events, plus you're in Vegas!

On another note, I'm pretty excited about a friend of mine scoring some tickets for the upcoming SEMA show in Las Vegas (Oct 31-Nov 1). There'll be some sick set-ups at that event!

Peace - Out!
HIJACK -- Paul, Patrick, forgive me. Can't resist.

"In '64, I paid $300 for a 57 oval window VW, sold ..."

Jim . ... Dude. You make it sound like you might have dated the original hula girl's MOM! While driving a giddyapp little four-oh-nine! Please tell me that was before you became the landing-zone-clearing, no BS-taking, cop-frustrating, life-saving, schedule-making, pseudo-scofflaw you've become.
At least tell me that was the EARLY teenage years, huh?
Cory (my young, bad-monkey toting, hood-tilting, fireman-joking, ass-kicking-firefighting, Morgan-mentoring, military-officer-saluting, SOC Brutha!!)

My boyish-good-looks belie my age (man, these 32-waist levi's are getting a little snug) - I am AFTERALL - El Guapo, the most Guapo man in all of Orange County, SoCal. I had just got my Driver's License when I bought that '57. I wish I WAS younger - then I would have missed all that LZ-clearing, tracer-dodging, giant-bug freakin, foot-fungus-treating, fun and games!

Subsequently, I think too much of that red-hair-bud smoke that I happened upon (second-hand of course), must have halted my mental/maturity development (as noted by my moronic agent-orange-induced responses on this site).

Peace - Out!

I'm not posting to boast (Yes I got a trophy) but to let you guys know the NCKCC show was pretty good. The weather saturday could have been better, but Sunday was great.

The club must have changed their categories as the prepounderance of Cobras wasn't the usual snore when it came time to vote. In year's past there were probably as many categories for Cobras as there were cars entered into the show!

Butch was in class B and brought up the rear to a cool Daytona Coupe and first place went to a Ferrari GTO, which also won the chairman's award.

Next year is the club's 25th anniversary and they are looking for a real memorable event. There were only a couple speedsters in the show although a few showed up Sunday to look around. One Spyder and its owner held court most of the day Saturday; people are fascinated by those cars and his was really so-so. I mean come on,who puts SC hubcaps on a Spyder anyway???

I was parked alongside an amazing Frazer-Nash that looked for all the world like a classic 30's touring car complete with a gorgeous black leather butler's trunk in back, which when opened, revealed a VW engine!

The particpants were not so pompous and I think that had to do with mort manageable number of Cobras present, so I'd hope this group might consider a stronger showing next year; Peter maybe you'll have a car by then?

Good times
If there were a dozen speedsterowners signed up, fees paid, one month prior to the event, there could possibly be a seperate speedster class.
I missed not seeing Ray, Patrick must not have gotten as far along as he'd hoped, Dale was in Ventura but aren't there a few more bay area, southbay and Sacratomato guys that would like to get together, off forum?
