I just started a build with Steve of SAS for my next 356..Roadster. I have several colors in mind.

Personally I'm leaning towards Auratium Green. I don't see too many of that color. Nice 'easy on the eyes' shade of green...

The process just started so I have time to mull it over. Mind you I'm not a big Silver, Red or Black fan. Everyone seems to have those colors...

Here are my current choices in order:

Auratium Green/Tan
Heron Grey/Tan
Bali Blue/Navy
Sahara Beige/Dark Brown/or Black

Haha..Vin I def' got a few months to think about it..with SAS time is on my side. Remember Cuz'I live in Cali so chicks have to dig it. Ponder that daddy'

Beige and brown is nice. Classy.

Something about Auratium Green though. Green is a tough color but that shade seems to fit that old school 356 feel.

I'm intruiged by Heron Grey. It's a real light shade of grey..almost white in bright light.

Sorta' like Slate Grey. A real 50's color. Not that pretty but I like that authentic look. I don't think I'd paint any other car besides a 356 Slate Grey..or Auratium Green. Fits the body style..
I believe that is the same Green/Tan combo that was for sale at Malibu Carz about a year or two ago. I drooled for quite a while over it. I'm also a huge fan of Stone Gray for some reason. I'd probably pair that with some sort of chocolate brown. Turkish red was also a favorite of mine, and I am not a huge red speedster fan. I posted a question about colors a while back and Jane put up some very helpful links. I ended up with an Infinity Metallic color which is not authentic at all, but I love it. Flat colors hide the flaws better though IMO.
yeah I meant to say Stone Grey. doh.
Stone Grey/Chocolate brown. Nice contrast

I live in the pollen capital..every spring and into summer it's the same frign' yellow dust off the pine trees. When the wind blows it's like yellow fog. Wash your car and within an hour it's got that yellow tinge. My daily is black and most of the time I don't even bother.

A light color would be wiser I guess

SAS build times are considerably shorter these days (relative term). 14 months I was told. I can live with that.

In the meantime I'll enjoy the IM. Time flies when you having a g*damn good time
I vote for Irish Green or British Racing Green over saddle or ballglove brown. The two best-looking 356s I've ever seen in green were those colors. The Irish Green was a clover-color, metal flake and very, very eye-catching in the sunlight. The flake was a tiny flake hint, not like a bass boat or an old Manx. It was the factory green in '62 or something (don't hold me to the year) and was brilliant.

The BRG was a JPS, also indescribably beautiful. If I had my life to live over, I'd buy either car the moment it was for sale.

You're gong to be absolutely tickled to death with your SAS, by the way, whatever color you decide on.
Can't wait Cory. I've put this off long enough.

Who doesn't like BRG. Didn't every kid have a HOT WHEELS F1 'BRM' in British Racing Green? I'd love to see a pic of a 356 in that color

I like Irish Green too. Perusing the 356 REGISTRY site I've seen a few of those. Very nice

I'd love to see all these colors in person. Might make it alot easier
Truspeed had an Irish one with a 1600. It was beautiful. The Aquamarine car with camel that they have has been there for a very long time. I lobbed in an offer a while back, and they did not answer my e-mail. It was similar to what Kirk quoted for a car with the same options brand new. They must do well from impulse buyers. I know he gives dealers preferred pricing, as he should.
furthermore if it takes awhile I'm down with that. I'ts a limited build OK. They don't happen overnite. One of my pet peeves is when folks 'hurry the builder'. Kills me when I see that. It has affect the final outcome.

Think Boyd Coddington. He died pretty young and as far as I could see he spent alot of his life STRESSED out of his mind. I'm letting Steve do his thing.

I've got much patience and don't forget the stunning white IM and the shiny supercharged 325xi sitting in my garage. They're both to die for and will keep me plenty happy in the meantime.
Damn right Vinnie. It's a prime example of time flies when your having a good time..

During the next 2 weeks I'm replacing every moving part on the IM. This includes the suspension, shifter, brakes, front end, motor and gearbox. The car is already in pristine condition..I'm just making it FAST and bulletproof.

It's gonna be a helluva summer cruisin'.

Maybe I'll bop on down the coast and you can show me some Malibu stylin'

Thanks Nolan I appreciate that.

Bob your so right
yeah LA..cruisin 1...top down..waving to all the beautiful movie stars..stoppin' at Sheen's place on the beach..drop by Hef's...oh yeah.

Vin' you can show me all the hotspots where the girls all have fake body parts

someday this summer I'll drag my butt down there. Every year I at least do a BIG SUR run. Carmel to Santa Barbara...and back. Camp a few nights along the way. Real nice if there aren't too many motorhomes

my color choice is still up in the air. I am thinking about a red interior though. I might be finally over my tan leather obsession...almost
I love the red interior thought! You can still do a lot with the outside too. Personally I like black because that's the way I roll... still thinking about white walls too? but I dig the dark green as well. NEVER oh NEVER the light gray, that crap looks like primer at any angle! The good news is that you still have time to decide, and the bad news is that you still have time to decide!

Speedster "D" No news is still news!

haha. yup plenty of time. thanks for reminding me...sigh..oh yeah I've already got an IM so I feel better now

Are you saying black interior or exterior? Black cars in general are hard to keep clean. Every swirl mark..every spec of dust and dirt show up 10 minutes after you wash it.

That's a nice Black on Red car there. RED is classy. RED says no skanks allowed in these seats..

..black leather is going to be too hot for top down stuff imho. Would look BA' though..Black on Black.
My car is sand and it seems to collect what looks like dust, but seems to be tiny oil drops from what I can tell. If I take a 100 mile drive it seems to be there when I run the California duster over it. The oil level has not dropped in months so I am not alarmed at all, but does anyone else notice this? Sorry to go off topic. The used Merlot car listed here has me drooling...
