But better than no clutch pedal, it has a registration plate on it, meaning that it's being road tested!!
Congrats, Nolan!!
Boy! looks like the reports are accurate; When Steve finally gets rolling on an order, it gets done in short order.

LOL, It's a 4 speed automatic with cruise control, wife is as anxious as I am to drive it!

A suggestion and a question:
What's the rectangular vent thingie with the white knob on it just above the clock?
Change those knobs to genuine Porsche 356 items, and the radio knobs while you're at it ! ! !

That's an A/C vent with a thermometer in it. It looks like Steve is verifying that it cools properly.
Well guys & gals, it's nearly finished. Paperwork for registration and insurance is on the way. Here's the latest photos, the blue looks light in parts of the pictures because of the flash, but the blue seats (leather) are as dark if not darker than the door panels. Steve's put about 100 miles on it and no problems. I plan to fly up and put on some more up there, if I can stand the cold weather, before driving back to sunny South Florida.

Wow! Getting close!!
Nolan: Do you need Hoss and me to hurry on over there to do an engine rev limiter test, straight line acceleration or parking lot donuts test?
Be glad to step up and do our part for ya!

Seriously, though, keep in touch and I'll try to get out to I95 on your way down and buy you lunch at Cracker Barrel or something....

UNBELIEVABLE ! ! ! ! ! That interior, the color compliments, accessories and layout, absolutely everything ('cept the knobs) is JUST BEAUTIFUL ! ! ! ! ! !
Great job, just a great job.
Hey, what are those two nifty little things beside the clock, on the right. They fit in pretty well whatever they are.

Nolan,
As good as this car looks ( and it's a beauty, for sure) the real excitement will be in that drivetrain! As pretty as it is on the outside, it's going to be a beast underneath.

those two knobs right of the radio are the fan controls for the A/c and Heater. And that Cracker Barrel invite sounds good.

Make it close enough to Charleston and I might just join you.
Noolan,
Absolutely gorgeous and well worth the wait.

Nolan:
I heard via the Grapevine that Chuck Beck will be at the 24 Hours of Daytona, and I'm trying to convince Carey Hines (and maybe Kevin, too) to come to Daytona to visit Carey's Granpa and do the race, too.
Wonder how many other Speedster/Spyder folks we can encourage to show up? I'll be working the race for Guardian Angel Motorsports but should be able to get away a bit for some socializing!!
Any other takers??

Latest Pictures! The knobs will be replaced with solid black ones and the glove box lid is not latched because it still needs the handle and button installed, that why it looks out of adjustment.

Nolan is taking top-down driving lessons from a NASCAR school and cleaning out his garage. SL reports a Tuesday December 16 delivery date. Nolan can fill you in on the rest!!
Sorry, was putting out Christmas decorations, writing Christmas cards, mowing the lawn and generally get my s--t to gether before going up North. Even had to buy some warm clothes to wear. Here's the latest from Steve, gravel guards or fender well liners. I'm not sure what the material is but the pattern one looks like it come in flat sheets and can be bent to the contour of the wheel wheel.

Nolan--are the fender well inside covers to prevent water from getting thrown up into the car inside? I've seen similar but not this large, covering so much area. How are they held on---pop rivets?
Or some other way?---Jack
Or some other way?---Jack
Steve at SAS said the shields were to protect the fiberglass from rocks and gravel hitting the insides of the fenders. The way the SAS frames are constructed water doesn't enter the cab area. Charles Gardner took his coupe through a high pressure car wash to test it and not a drop got in. I'm not sure how they're held as I won't take delivery until Tuesday the 16th. It's been a long wait but it will be worth it, also was able to get an insurance policy with Grundy for agreed value and unlimited mileage for $528 a year.

Got my Cabrio today, driving it home, staying in Georgia for the night then on to Florida in the morning, pictures to follow. Did hit 95mph going uphill, car has good manners and feels glued to the road. Later, will post the SEG when I get home.

Congrats, Nolan!!!! Glad I got to participate in the gestation in some small way.

Hope that all is the way you anticipated it to be ...Best of luck & be safe Nolan. ~Alan
Got home this afternoon, put 1100 miles on her without a problem other than a slight rattle. Heater helped until I reached Orlando then switched A/C on. Need to contact SAS for sun visors, lol, morning sun was murder. Car has great road manners and holds like a rock at 100mph, didn't want push it even though I still had plenty of pedal and rpms left. The Cruise control worked great, set it on 80mph, revs just under 3k and radio playing country. When stepped on that subi engine sounded like I stepped on a tiger's tail almost like a formula I coming alive. at idle the only sounds are a low purr of the exhaust and the whirring of the radiator fan. A second fan comes when water temp hits 209 degrees or when the A/C is turned on. No rain entered the car during a toad strangling downpour leaving Tennessee, thank goodness SL put a two speed wiper and windshield defogger in or else I'd have to had waited for that storm to let up. Enough dialog here are some pics:

More photos on the SAS website under CUSTOMER CARS. Now another Creame Brule colored Cabriolet is on the block along with a red one due out early 2009.

Congrats, Nolan! There a few things more exciting than getting a great a new toy, and this is one that will still be fun 20 years from now.
Congratulations Nolan, after the long wait......
Now I suggest that you cement your membership into our cult by reserving your rooms at the Hotel Carlisle as soon as possible.
Lane, let me know who, where and when to post reservations for Carlisle, can't wait. I think I brought some of the weather back with me from up North, cold and windy out today, must be down to 72 degrees out! I have a few minor things to do like getting a Porsche key fob, license plate frame, registration plate to put in the door frame, just have to tinker where I can. Looking forward to the Tail of Dragon Run and the Porsche event in Daytona that Gordon is part of. Oh yea, now that I'm officially the possessor of a 356 I'll renew my membership with SOC and proudly display my SOC and Corpse badges!
