Several people have emailed me regarding when I will be picking up my car. I apologize to anyone that I didn't email directly as sometimes its hard to keep track of everyone.

My car will be available starting on July 30th for viewing and so will Stuart's. Currently I'm planning on being at SAW on August 2nd at about 3pm to get my car. I am plannig to do a little driving with John Halastrand and some dinner. Then the next day I'm going to drive her home with Stuart behind me.

I will post here if that changes for any reason. The only thing that might screw us up is getting the overrider tubes back from the chromer. Steve at SAW had some reproductions made from my originals, so they need chromed and then fitted on the car, meanwhile everything else should be completed while he is waiting for the tubes to come back.

Hehehe, Tubaru, I love it.

Steve, Stuart. I'm sure you don't need any encouragement, but go overboard on those digital photos for us, will ya? Staurt, please say you have broadband? Poor steve would be up all night trying to upload photos for us to consume... Steve needs broadband. :)

PS - Steve did I understand correctly that SAW now has repro overriders they can offer?
They have the ones for the front and the single tube style rear done. They will be doing the double style rear ones next as this will be the more commone style people will want. The single tube style in the back would only be appropriate for a 56 and then only if you like the look. I really like the look and knew it would be very rare and appropriate for the car I was doing.

I already know the next question....how much? I'm sure they will be priced comparably to other people in the business doing the overrider tubes. The chromed bumperettes that have the attachment points for the tubes are outrageously priced, the real expense in the tubes is the fitting and chroming. It just adds up to about the most expensive option you could want?
Stuart, any cheapo digital camera is satisfactory for posting images to the internet. Resolution for the web is not important. If that's all you'll be using it for then spend as little as possible. If you wouldn't mind a more useful replacement for your old analog point and shoot...you can really get a decent camera in the $250-$300 range.
Ok guys:
Why is the 12:00 sounding so off? I figure I get there early in the am. get aquinted with my car. Go for a test drive with Steve. Hang out with Hoss for awhile and checkout his ride and then split.
Am I not allowing enough time.
I somehow sense you guys are chuckling!!!!!!
Hoss can you e-mail me at me address your cell number I would love to speak to you you prior.
Stuart, I decided for the 30th instead of the 3rd b/c Steve Lawing said he would be spending at least 1/2 day with you going over EVERYTHING. You guys would be out on the road for quite awhile and inspecting every inch of the car. Would not have time for me so I moved my date. Anyway, 2:00 sounds about right. I figure the only way you're getting out of there at noon is because you'll be so hyped up to ride, you will want to split early. Don't blame you, though.
Damn
I guess I will have to Curb my enthuziazum!?!?!?!?
Ihave been reviewing the trip and breakin up the legs Longest leg I have is about 800 miles which will be KC to Denver.
Half of the fun has been the planning a chating with these guys. Truthfully I am a nervous wreck about the car being done on time adn all the logistics. I just got the reg stuff sent to Idaho and finished off the insurance last night.
I think I might be able to take a couple of dep breaths at this point cause I put a lot of timing pressure on all this.
Terry, thank you so much for the opportunity to move a post!!!!!!!! I took your post as an invitation and here you are, it works really good!!!! Like magic?

Well currently we are waiting for the Chromer to take the new reproduction tubes. He won't take them until Aug 3rd, which means then waiting a week for him to actually get them done. Then I will hopefully have a car within a week? If I can't get the car that next week, it will be difficult with my work schedule and surgery to get the car for another month or even more? If were not careful here and get this thing done expediteously, it could end up being a 07 car. I hope to God, he gets Stuart's Car done and then mine is finished quickly so it doesn't become a nightmare to try and go get it.
I can't wait. If it isn't good news at this stage please just lie to me. What ever you do don't tell me the truth! What ever you see just report back yes, Stuarts car is done it looks great etc etc.
At this point with pick up the third I couldn'y handle it if it was n't happenin
Paul, man are your right in some respects. I really only have until November to drive my car daily. After that it will be only on dry days, which is a couple of times a week. That means if I get the car in August, I will only have 90 days left and then its back to being an average schlep every day. I know that still sounds like a lot to some guys, but I drove my IM every day last summer from June 1 through the end of November and then sold it. It was the best summer I have had in many years. I had fun daily, even at the most mundane of things like driving to and from the airport. Even my ritual of washing the car every Saturday morning was fun.

I could have made the car with less parts, but since Stuarts car (then Luigi's car) was ordered before mine and it still isn't done, we all know that my car wouldn't be done yet either. My only hope is that Stuart takes delivery on time, and my car is quickly finished up afterwards.

At about the time of the Carlisle show, we were said to be "about 2 weeks from being done" 9 weeks later and were about 2 weeks from being done? When having a car built, each day of delay starts to wear you out.
Relax fellows. Your cars are coming along fine. When you see them and drive them for the first time, the long wait will seem worthwhile, believe me. I missed last year's Carlisle gathering and was upset about it at the time, but I got over it OK.

Stuart, Steve tells me he expects to have your car ready on time, or at least that was his position today. Most of what is left is assembly of the interior components, closing up and cleaning. Your paint job came out really nicely. The classic combination of the silver and red interior looks spiffy. Very classic!

Shawn took a bunch of photos of both cars and perhaps will share them with you here or maybe privately. We did not discuss that. We were too busy talking cars. We went for a ride in mine so he could get a feel for what a Tubaru is. I think he was impressed.

Keep the faith
Hoss
Hoss and all;

Shawn sent me a bunch of pictures. It looks like I am a go between Shawn and Hoss's report.
The car looks great and according to Shawn sounds like a nice nasty growl when running.
I wil be there on the 3rd and look forward to reporting on the ride and the drive to Sun Valley.
I am pumped big time!
Thanks for the report and the pictures.
Stuart, if you are interested, I would be happy to report on this site your trip progress on your way to Idaho. That is where you are heading, correct? You can give me a call each evening (not after 9:00 PM EDT please.....I have to get my beauty sleep......just ask Vince....he he he) or each morning. If you do not have my home phone, let me know and I will e-mail you offline or you can record it when I see you on Wednesday. I'm very excited for you man!
Hoss
